I am having a tidy up of Communities/etc so quite a few will go. There'll be some warning, but it will be done before August.

    There are a lot of people I know who think I am a wuss for playing games that don't involve shooting people and killing people and whacking people over the head with pipes.

    There are plenty of people I don't like on the web, but who I can talk to in a calm, rational way because while they aren't nice people, they are relatively rational people. They are people you can have reasonable discussions with, even if you entirely disagree with them.

    But there are also plenty of people on the web who I've found I just can't talk to because they are not rational. They just...... okay, imagine I am waving my hands in a slightly aggravated manner and going "urgh!" because that's really the only way I can describe trying to interact with them.

    The OP (not me - the OP from the post) isn't suggesting you block everyone you encounter. Just those who will not be good for your mental wellbeing.

    And I have to say - having encountered quite a lot of people who were not good for my mental wellbeing, I find it hard to disagree with them :)

  • I wasn't talking on a philosophical level.

    The original post was - I believe - was from an American, and was about how the first 21 days of this year seem to have been going on forever and ever because of the actions of the administration over there.

    Where as, for me, because of various problems we've had with upgrades, installations, releases, network issues and so on, I swear to Merlin it seems like the thirteen (yes - 13) days of work I have done feel like they have lasted forever.

    The weird part of that is I've always referred to it as 640 by 480.

    Width by Height.

    I've never seen it written as Height by Width before. It just looks weird........

  • By way of explanation (and it is explanation, not excuse, just to be clear) what you see is exactly what it looks like when I view it on tumblr in my feed.

    I will see if I can adjust my skin (so to speak) and perhaps make it better.

    The transcript part might be harder, because sometimes I post hundred of lines at once, and (with all due respect) if I am going to start doing that I'll just end up not posting as often because if I am formatting a text post of 500+ lines into a single image it can take upwards of ten, fifteen minutes, and then having to get transcribe that (even with some automated process) just takes all the fun out of what I'm doing.

    I understand the need for accessibility (I get it A LOT at work - we review all the software we produce before we release it) but this isn't work, it's fun and when it stops being fun then I'm just not going to bother :)

  • Would you, perhaps, like to suggest a better text colour/background colour?

    There are almost infinite variations and I could go through all of them before I find one that suits everyone, so if I had a place to start from, that would be helpful.

    We get lots of Christmas adverts over here, but they seem to be mostly about families and shops.

    If Santa does appear he seems to be in the periphery of things. He's not the driving force (I'M SANTA AND I CAN SELL YOU THIS STUFF) more of a "Come down to

    <insert shop here>

    for Christmas and we'll make your family happy. You can also see Santa!"

    He's kind of a bonus thing on top of the other things. Not the main reason for doing it, if that makes sense.
