  • Hm... yeah, I get that (not the part about Boardwalk Empire, haven't seen that yet). Most people in BB are definitely miserable!

    I liked BB a lot, especially on a second watch through many years later, but the main reason is probably just that I can understand why each character behaves the way they do - the writing is consistently "realistic" in a manner I haven't really seen anywhere else with a comparable length.

    Eurovision gucke ich mir aber trotzdem nicht an. Israel macht da mit und das kann ich echt nicht akzeptieren.

    Hier hat jemand einfach seine/ihre persönliche Einstellung geteilt. Nicht jeder Mensch beschäftigt sich mit Ungerechtigkeiten in der Welt so eingängig wie du es gerne hättest, das musst du leider einfach akzeptieren. Das invalidiert diese persönliche Einstellung nicht automatisch, du bist nicht das objektive Maßband der Moral.

    Gleichzeitig gibt es auch andere mögliche Erklärungen, z. B.

    • Person wurde aufgrund der von dir erwähnten Propaganda-Netzwerke tatsächlich nichts davon mitbekommen
    • Person hat davon mitbekommen, aber erwähnt es nicht, weil es effektiver ist sich ausschließlich auf den noch nicht vollendeten Genozid zu beziehen

    Aber nein, das kann ja alles nicht sein. Schließlich hat jemand seine Meinung geteilt, ohne alles spezifisch so zu formulieren und zu erwähnen wie du es gerne hättest - da ist es wichtiger, diese Person öffentlich anzuprangern.

    Können wir das Diskussionsniveau vielleicht ein bisschen höher halten? Wenn dir tatsächlich Aserbaidschan irgendwie wichtig wäre, würdest du die Info einfach direkt als Hinweis erwähnen, anstatt es als Argument zu nutzen, wieso die Einstellung von GP nicht aus ehrlicher Quelle kommt.

    Du machst mit dieser Herangehensweise die Diskussion kaputt UND gehst sicher, dass dein Punkt von Leuten, die die von dir angesprochene Situation nicht kennen (wie es hier offensichtlich der Fall ist/war), ignoriert wird.

  • Vor allem macht mir eins Sorgen: was ist, wenn der Abstieg für die republikanischen Wähler richtig spürbar wird und sie sich dazu entscheiden, ihr überdimensionalisiertes Militär explizit zum Schließen ihres Haushaltsloches einzusetzen? Die drehen ja aktuell komplett am Rad, obwohl ihr Abstieg gerade einmal angefangen hat.

    Ich vertraue unserer aktuellen Regierung nicht im geringsten, uns nicht zu verkaufen.

  • Ah, I haven't used wireless VR yet, so I can't comment on that. Planning to wait for the Steam Frame, I'm sure Valve will make it work well enough. There is a project called ALVR that I keep reading about in the context of wireless VR on Linux, might be something to look at if you wanna dig deeper.

    I'd argue that my setup allows you to not treat the OS as a hobby, but your mileage may vary :) I'm using an atomic Fedora variant (specifically Aurora, which is focused on developers - but there's also e.g. Silverblue (Gnome) or Kinoite (KDE) as normal day-to-day versions, and Bazzite which focuses on gaming). Steam is running through Flatpak, and everything else - SteamVR & the games themselves - honestly just worked for me. Sometimes SteamVR shows an error after starting, in that case I have to quit, unplug my headset for a few seconds, plug it back in & start SteamVR again, but other than that it's been a fairly painless experience.

    I should mention that I use a Valve Index, but as long as you're using SteamVR, things should work the same.

    War nur ein dummer Witz, der sich eh erübrigt hat, weil laut anderen Quellen der Tatbestand "Beleidigung" sein soll.

  • Sure, that's fair, but then you shouldn't go around saying "those distributions make it harder to mess with your computer". Your criticism seems to instead be "I can't use the tooling and processes I already know", which again is fair, but definitely a separate issue.

    You're going to have the same issue with any distribution that uses a different package manager, and it wouldn't be fair to e.g. Alpine to say "it makes it harder to mess with my system since I can't use apt or dnf".

  • The German news articles are saying that there will be areas of the building only available after payment - not any areas you need for praying, there's lots of historical areas in the building. If you want to look at those parts, you'll have to take a separate entrance where you'll pay.

    Visitors already have to pay to enter the tower & the treasury.

  • There are very, very few things that Bazzite prevents you from doing. Usually they just have an alternative approach (e.g. in a Distrobox) to ensure the stability of the system.
