    Apparently the Portland Zoo signed it… No one expected that shit. We both let her parents know that this is because of their vote in another state.

  • I’m an outlier because I live in a walkable neighborhood in a city. But I have 10 breweries within walking distance around my house. I know the owners by name for 2 of these breweries and the bartenders know me for 4 of them. I think they all know my dog.

    I usually go with my wife and/or girlfriend about 2-4 days a week, but it’s still very much a hang out.

    We’re also Friday regulars to a semi-close bar every Friday because I won a free beer/week for a year in a $25 raffle!

  • Seattle has commercially compostable plastic straws. They feel pretty much like plastic but are kind of matte. Even the single use forks/knives/spoons from restaurants are like that. But then again we do large scale compost across the city.

    But we do have failovers for customers that they need to activate to just start working in another region.

    But our canaries and infrastructure alarms cannot do that since they are for alerts in the region.

  • As someone that works at another Amazon AWS dependent org, it also took out us. It was awful. Nothing I could do on my end. Why the fuck didn’t it get rolled back immediately? Why did it go to a second region? Fucking idiots on the big teams side.

    I got paged 140 times between 12 and 4 am PDT. Then there was another one where I had to hand it off at 7am because I needed fucking sleep. And they handled it until 1pm. I love my team, but it’s so awful that this even was able to happen. All our our fuck ups take 5-30 mins to roll back or manually intervene. This took them 2+ hours, and it was painful. Then it HAPPENED AGAIN! Like what the fuck.

    I say that because some towers are leaning weirdly, and some windows are very diffused. It’s too low res to be to an “artistic renderin,” and it’s just looks messy (as an image). I’ve seen better renders of the towers of Bologna.

    If it’s not AI, I’ll across out the top bir. I’m sorry I’m just super skeptical nowadays.

  • I have one on my wallet and it helps my ADHD brain not miss the bus when I misplace my wallet. My AirPods also now have the same thing. And me or my wife can use it on our phones. It helps eliminate a lot of frantic searching.
