  • "Hey uhm i know we just swapped like 30 minutes ago but I've suddenly got the energy and desire to dedicate 50 hours a week into that hobby again, could we swap back?"

  • I think people get lost sometimes because the thought/story that triggered the tangent can continue for a bit before the tangent is shared. The tangential moment sticks out for the one wanting to share their tangent but it otherwise is a normal moment of the thought/story for others.

  • Canada has also been threatened to be annexed by its neighbour with a particularly notorious military. Even if its just dementia riddled ramblings, Canada should be becoming more defense independent.

  • That road is wide enough to fit 3 cars wide in its current state. The age of the roadway is irrelevant, they could have designated more space to pedestrians and still accommodate 2 lanes worth of car traffic.

  • I think it is reasonable to assume that there is not a centuries old designation to dedicate the majority of the space to cars. Its very likely they could dedicate the space exclussively to bicycles and pedestrians and still fit a centuries old rule.

From other comments it seems to be designed that way to accommodate a war memorial and possibly transports/lorries needed more room for the turn. There is also apparently better access on the other side.

If you wanna make the argument that there just isn't enough room for stuff, private vehicles taking up surface level real estate and often sit empty are a bigger target than sidewalks.

  • This picture must be a very unique angle. The blue building looks farther back from the road than the clare evans building in the background across the street.

  • That road looks wide enough to fit 3 cars wide and it seems to be a one way street. They wouldn't have to sacrafice the war memorial or remove the historic buildings to provide more room for pedestrians.

Sorry i didn't recognize it as a town, it has more density than an average north american city would which is where I'm from.

By walker i meant someone using a mobility device, often used by seniors.

  • Why should we even be accommodating babies in our city? It not like they pay any taxes

  • How does a wheelchair, baby stroller, or walker fit down that? I guess it doesn't and the city doesn't care about those people

  • With the rise of dead internet theory, comment bots, and bots in games, one could argue AI still mimicked them

  • My work uses one to kinda track my work van. It seems to be less about surveillance and more about they know what end of towm I'm in or how far along my scheduled jobs i am. It probably isn't that accurate as they rely on apple devices to ping but i don't own any apple products so it just relies on any iphones i pass while driving

  • This one was a bit ahead of its time, if it debuted 3-4 years ago or later i think it would have gotten even more attention and views.

  • I'd say lying is not a great idea if its someone you'd like a sexual relationship with as they're going to find out anyway. That said the right answer is all about context. You could spin it playfully and use the find out type of lines or stay mysterious with something like "a man can't share all their secrets". If you've got the confidence you can give them an accurate number or idea of size visually. I'd bet the confidence/delivery of the response matters more than the actual number for most people.

  • If i put in 11 hours into games across a 2 day weekend, i end up paying for it the next week because I'll be behind on chores or other projects that should have been done. Tbf i work a lot of overtime so many weekly chores get pushed to the weekend.

  • Id argue in practice they aren't on the same level. In theory being on the same level would be 6ish hours for each (games, partner, friends) then the rest for sleep in an average day. In practice games take 11+ hours a day so games are getting the majority of waking hours and could be considered the most important compared to the other 2 from a time commitment perspective.

  • Imo its not wrong for your partner to expect more from you here. If you can't commit to that you may want to find a partner who enjoys gaming and wants to game with you or you may have to cut back to keep them.

I too can spend 10+ hours in a day into a game, but i try my best to limit that as my work, social life, and hobbies all deserve attention as well. Its harder in the morning to say put the canoe on my car and go fishing instead of gaming, but a day of fishing is often more satisfying in the end than gaming is to me.

  • How many hours a day do you spend working, and how many gaming? Do you live with your partner? If not how often do you see them?

If i were in your partners shoes I'd get escaping for an evening or two a week, maybe most of a weekend, however 6+ hours a day leans more into a significant addiction imo.

At that point you have to decide if your current partner or commitment to your game is more important in your life.
