  • Who says canada has to keep producing canola? Many other crops can be grown instead. Farmers could shift away from canola to a different crop that has more market demand or start planting more crops for domestic use.

  • Anecdotally, i drink more when I'm out with friends. I ususally drive to the bar or pub so that keeps me at 1 drink max, but if i didn't drive i find i drink about twice as much in a social setting than i do when alone. The high prices at bars actually help reduce over drinking in public for me.

  • "He has to run for a 3rd term, america has no other option"

  • And the states that don't cancel will have militaries from trump supporting states come in and occupy the state to either cancel the election or scare everyone into their homes/arrest the ones that break emergency curfew to vote.

  • In this timeline, yea pretty much exactly that. Plus you'll have the die hard trumpers pretty much ready to riot if he isn't on the ballots.

  • Average folk probably wouldn't even be allowed to participate. Only corporations with proof of excessive funds would be allowed to bid.

  • Most of the flouride stuff ive read about is more about concerns with the toxicity of flouride and some about it promoting calcification of parts of the body.

And a lot of the anti climate change stuff i find is less about promotion of alternatives and more about the government wants to control your freedom, self sustainability, and independence.

  • Canada has the same issue where we are somehow delusional in thinking the right is more economic, which is technically true but only if you're in the business owner or significant investments class.

  • Just like the media these days the community is labeled that way to get someone angry and engage with it, then through that engagement hopefully they can see the bigger picture. The vast majority of that community is not a "ban every car from every square inch of a city" extreme, we just want to see other methods of transportation get even a fraction of the attention and funds cars do. We also want to clear up misinformation and disinformation often spread through car/oil lobbies and governments, or in Canada's case a business lobby desperately trying to shoot itself in the foot for some short term profits.

  • His bills prevents all of ontario from building bike lanes. The focus may be on toronto, but it also means a northern town of 1000 people can't build their own bike lane if its gonna slow down some cars.

  • Doug Ford had some big dick energy planning to run the commercials for months but that spineless oaf backed down at the first sign of resistance.

  • Yes I've been looking into some of that. Since i have a high efficiency furnace im ineligible for a heat pump as far as im aware. As for the insulation i was hoping to use that support once the basement is repaired as it is completely uninsulated. I did a rough manual j calculation and by far the basement is the biggest loss for heat. Idk how accurate it was as i had to guess the r values of my existing insulation.

  • Threesome?

  • 100 years ago a family of 8 would be raised out of a house that size. Smaller houses are also cheaper to heat/cool. Sure some people or families need more space, but a small house is far better than being homeless.

  • I paid 235k for about 600 sqft + unfinished basement. That did include a 1/2 acre lot. The house is about 70 years old and needs extensive foundation/basement work plus the usual renos like floors etc. It is also lacking some modern features like A/C, indoor air exchange, and better insulation all around.

Not sure how much that compares to the new builds and what features are included new. If the new homes include good insulation, efficient appliances like heat pumps etc, then id say the new homes are competitive in our market depending on where you pick your lot. Not necessarily affordable, but for what you're paying you're hopefully getting a better quality and energy effeciency than existing homes of a similar size.

  • I feel like this is kinda good news? Maybe some people can actually escape.

  • The lead ones are more expensive but improve the flavor of most beverages.

  • I've got 2 bad things

    1. The included wrapper isn't very rigid and can split and mash around. I've had several bananas turn to paste if they are forgotten about in a backpack or work their way to the bottom and end up crushed by other items.
    2. Fruit flies.
