  • God man, I hope your mom can turn around on it. It got my dad, and by proxy my mom, some time ago. Their Twitter addiction has turned them into some of the most hateful, poisonous people I know. It’s really incredible. Years ago, my dad was completely in favor of the BLM protests, wore shirts publicly showing his support in the deep guts of multiple red states. Said things like “Black people should be allowed to burn down cities they were forced to build” and “reparations are the only way to make us truly equal.” He was always hardline anticommunist, but there was at least real potential for him to become an anti-imperialist type. Once he installed Twitter it was over and he became mecha-hitler.

  • That’s awful, but I guess what’s new for the healthcare systems of the West? I’ve known people who’ve been denied pain meds for hours because the doctors think they’re just ‘junkies’ looking for a ‘fix’ instead of real people in real pain. The lack of care doctors have for their patients is a real issue everywhere that doctors are minted, especially in the US where the average salary is hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. By virtue of being around many members of the petty-bourgeoisie during my upbringing, I’ve known many of them decide to go to med school — not for fulfillment or to save or improve lives, but rather for nothing more than greed. Like seriously, most of these people have no aspirations, no interest in a ‘valuable’ field like engineering or something. Instead, they’d rather go into medicine solely for money. The way some of these people talk about playing with peoples lives like it’s an investment decision is honestly disgusting. That’s who these doctors are.

I know it’s not much of a consolation, but I couldn’t imagine where I could find the strength to keep going if I had to deal with half of the shit you put up with in that comment. Stay strong comrade, we are here for you <3.

  • I guess just an answer as to whether or not I have it? I don’t believe it’d make a difference to me whether or not I’d have it. I’m still me. What it may do is teach me to be kinder to myself in periods of long procrastination or inability to do much, assuming I am diagnosed. If I find out I do not have either, then I suppose I can determine what deeper issue is affecting me—whether I have some form of depression or burnout. It’ll just allow me to understand myself further, really.

  • Private schools being intrinsically better are a form of petty-bourgeois propaganda born out of the racism of the American segregated school system. Many public schools in nice areas are significantly better than many private schools that charge an arm and a leg. Now, this is of course not to say that some private schools aren’t better than any public high school in the US, but those private schools are for the top 0.1% of the population that can afford USD$30,000+ a year tuition for 4 years per kid. Mine definitely falls into the former category of being a worse private school (inferor to even my local public school) that just sells itself well to wring more money out of the gullible and better off members of the ‘middle’ class labor aristocracy. It was 100% a business first (and probably one that laundered quite a bit of money for school leadership judging by a few questionable investment decisions the school made) and an academic institution second.

  • I can certainly say if the private school I went to was to be a high standard, premium level of Statesian education, I can understand why we have a literacy crisis. The education there was a joke. I took honors and AP classes all the way through and 90% of the homework was pointless busywork that sparked no curiosity and stimulated no learning. The non honors/AP classes? Please. If attendance wasn’t compulsory, it would be more time efficient to not show up to class and skim the textbook.

I could go on for quite some time about that school.

  • Unfortunately, not the case. Ant Queens can live even up to or beyond 20 years in some cases, and colonies can go on living longer depending on the species. From my investigation, the girls unfortunately moved some of their soil away from the sponge I used to give them water, meaning they couldn’t go as long without water as they used to be able to. I kept my typical frequency of supying them water, expecting all to be good, and their nest became very dry. They require a good bit of humidity and water because they were a tropical species. Just a really unfortunate situation that I could’ve remedied by being more of an attentive keeper.

  • I did read part of his post that I linked, and that’s what led me to add that he might be a lunatic. Since then, I’ve looked into it, and scratch that, this guy is insane. I think he’s an ecofascist of the socdem variety going by his website and the various sources supplied by it. He’s still has a bunch of supposed scientific support behind his FMT company Human Microbes and all they’re doing though. It’s funny because he literally says “infinite growth on a finite planet is suicide” which is basically a core tenet of modern Eco-Socialism/Eco-Marxism, and in his politics archive on his GitHub page cites Einstein’s Why Socialism?, all the while his principal claim is that we are living in a dystopia because people are getting dumber and the only way to fix that is by making smarter people. He also believes human overpopulation is the primary driver of climate change and we need to stop having kids. No takes on communism, but you can kinda assume his views because of his link for “why the left should be anti-censorship”.

TL;DR: This guy’s nutty, but he knows his shit.

  • I am blessed to be in some ways a part of such a resilient people. I’m first in line to reject spiritualism of all kinds but, it touches something in me so deeply to see the resilience of the Cuban people and the insurmountable strength of their freedom. I have begun to redefine myself due to their bravery and unrelenting, and I find myself embracing my roots more and more as I walk away from the person I used to be.

The posts like these are great ways for me to clear my head and see that again. Honestly, sometimes the worries are quite irrational (My Spanish is fine and so is my accent, I only flub some things like occasionally messing up when I roll my 'r’s and that used to make me feel like I wasn’t really Hispanic/Cuban because of that when I was younger). They used to just be journal entries, but now, somewhere in the world, I have comrades to share them with ❤️.

    Gracias, compañero 🇨🇺.
