I know it's a joke, but I did not find it worth worrying about lactose. I mainly had problems with it when eating cereal or drinking chocolate milk. And for both of those, oat milk is absolutely fine, since you probably have oats in your cereal anyways and some of the premixed chocolate oat milks you can find in stores are IMHO nicer than the cow milk ones.
And even with yoghurts, I can get a decent selection of vegan ones that taste virtually indistinguishable.
So, I guess, I tolerate lactose so long as I do not have to talk to it. 🙃
What I find most frustrating about this kind of incident is this:
There is fucking nothing that would prevent humanity from actually building a 'smart' bed. Something that gives you data and allows you to control heating etc. based on this data, without these features being a liability. This would've been possible decades ago and technological advancements have made building reliable software easier ever since.
But unregulated capitalism means that instead of using this to actually build reliable software, it's rather used to cut costs. You still get the same unreliable mess. And the worst part is that this isn't even in the interest of capitalism either. Sending shivers down the spine of any experts that hear about your smart device means that excitement among potential customers won't be excessive either.
Damn, I've had technological disagreements with Mr. DeVault in the past. Obviously, I did not assume those to mean I'd disagree with him on everything, but it still feels surreal to read an entire post where I'm fully on board with everything he writes (and appreciate all the info I did not know).
I mean, it's also about having a bit of fun. It's definitely fair that you don't like it, but I feel like enough people enjoy the little dance, so that they do demand an encore.
At the very least, you often feel like a clap-activated jukebox throughout your performance. And then when you're about to leave, the audience suddenly wakes up and showers you in applause.Believe me, lots of musicians find encores silly, too, but when you're given so much love at the end of your performance, you feel bad not answering that with an encore.
I find that if your command is complex enough that editing it on the terminal becomes annoying, then there's a very high chance you want it in a file anyways, just to document what you did and to allow easily re-running it.
I'm not super deep into Flatpak, but is there such a thing as a "distro's Flatpaks"? Normally, it uses central repositories like FlatHub, which are intentionally distro-independent.A distro-specific repository would only make sense, if your distro maintainers are developing custom tooling...
Damn, I hadn't seen the community name before reading the title and thought Microsoft was fixing up their filesystem. Of course, there's more development happening on the non-Microsoft side.
Yeah, for me it's not even just the creative freedom, but an actual fuzzy feeling that me and the devs are having fun together. Open-source games also hold a special place in my heart for that reason, no matter how scrungy they are.
Yeah, I might be showing my age, but my interpretation of "a better game" was right away "a more fun game", which got followed up with the thought: Did it make them more fun?
I feel like we had fun figured out pretty well in the last century already. And in many ways, the higher specs are used to add realism and storytelling, which I know many people enjoy in their own way, but they're often at odds with fun, or at least sit between the fun parts of a game.
Like, man, I watched a video of the newest Pokémon game and they played for more than an hour before the tutorial + plot exposition was over. Practically no fun occurred in that first hour.Just imagine putting coins into an arcade cabinet and the first hour is an utter waste of time. You'd ask for your money back.
