  • Sure it does: Portal, Ratchet and Clank, Psychonauts, Drake's Fortune, Qube, Beton Brutal, Sonic Generations, Neon White, Mirror's Edge, Tomb Raider, Grimhook, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Little Big Planet, Fotonica, Alice, Fallstruktur, Try Again

This is by no means comprehensive, but if you're looking for 3D platformers, the above games/series are worth a look!

  • They aren't totally impervious, but yeah, they mostly work pretty well. As metallurgy made better steel, we kinda came full circle with trauma plates in carriers and ballistic shields too, they pretty reliably stop most small arms.

Now I'm wondering how modern armor would do against something like an English longbow.

  • Do it

  • Wow, 130 lbs is nuts! I'm really surprised that didn't go through. Heavier arrows and different tips might've helped, but still, damn.

    How did the crossbow do?

  • Sort of, but effectively, modern compound bows (at least ones for big game) are equally powerful and more accurate.

They only require a fraction of the actual draw weight at full draw, which makes aiming easier, but they are still fully capable of taking down a moose, grizzy bear, elephant, etc.

Modern materials help too, but basically modern bows are better in ever regard. You can still have crazy draw weights like old war bows/longbows, but the cams take the vast majority of the weight off once the bow is drawn.

  • I'd like to see how it does against modern compound hunting bows and crossbows (my guess is not so great).

  • Wait, he had a name?

  • My work is only a few miles away and it only takes me 10 minutes to get there on my bike: I was lucky enough to find a place near work without it being impossible to ride though.

  • Atlantis?

  • Maybe I misread, but I thought I saw 3.2%

Personally, I prefer a nice stout.

  • Not the first study to support the theory that piracy actually helps sales instead of hurting them.

Another study showed that pirates spend more on media than the average person too.

  • It was moatly a joke about low ABV, but as taste goes, it's pretty bland IMO.

  • Stella

Can't imagine what it'd be like with a real beer...

  • If it's NSFW or NSFL, I appreciate the warning.

Other stuff, I don't care personally, but if others find it helpful, that's fine by me.

  • I bet!

  • Water usually, but coffee is #2 and sometimes I'll drink tea, wine, V8, or beer. Mimosas and bloody Marys can really hit spot sometimes and smoothies get an honorable mention as well.

  • This isn't satirical?

  • Never in my life have I needed to reimage any Linux machine, but I have had to reimage many, many, many windows machines and quite a few Apple devices too. I have a long career in IT (and even before that, I've been building computers since I was 12), so my sample size consists of thousands of computers going back decades.

I've only ever reimaged Linux systems when I felt like distro hopping for fun. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I think it's probably more to do with the fact that Linux tends to be extremely reliable once you have it set up (unless you manage to break it, but even then there are usually multiple ways to fix it without reimaging).

  • I avoid smart home type shit

  • I've never even heard of this, shame it's no good apparently?
