  • oh man I'm going have to setup EmuDeck again to play this. Criterion did not deserve what EA has done to them, bring back Burnout you cowards.

  • I wonder how it’s handled, is it a newly trained model for UK driving? If it’s just the US model but told to drive on the left it will be disastrous. UK driving standards are so much higher than in the US, plus tighter lanes with often completely worn out road markings. Think I’ll just avoid London for the first 6 months they are active

  • I see a Simon Clark video, I upvote. He’s such a great communicator for climate science.

  • I used to think this until I thought about the amount of money we use every year treating obesity and the related health issues. From the UK this is more obvious as more and more of our tax is used to treat increased rates of cancer and mobility issues. But also in the US I guess everyone’s insurance has to go to up to cover those that require more treatment.

For me education is #1 but we also can’t allow unhealthy foods to be so much cheaper than the healthy alternatives.

  • I guess it’s a case of “why not”. I’m sure someone could make a client that does the same thing but there’s a few features of mastodon that are geared towards text content rather than just images (quote posts). Likewise there’s probably some features that make sense for an image first platform that probably aren’t needed for mastodon (showing camera setting used).

Hopefully federation between the two does improve to the point that you maybe couldn’t tell at first glance of a profile is on one or the other.

  • Slightly off topic, but do the large Map apps (Google, Apple, etc) donate to OpenStreetMap at all? I’m pretty sure they use their data, or at the very least check for updates to the open map. I’ve had it a couple times where I’ve updated the map, then a couple weeks later, it’s updated in Apple Maps and Google Maps. If that is the case then surely they can pay to support the service.

  • Yeah I think we need to be careful of manufacturers making “hybrids” by using the smallest battery possible so that it’s basically always using petrol. Hopefully there’s some legislation coming or already there for this.

But I think the main takeaway is to show there is still a growing market for EVs seen as the manufacturers were recently trying to say an ICE ban was unrealistic.

  • I think it will just be a very slow change over many years. It wasn’t only the head designer that wanted Liquid Glass, senior leadership approved of it so a big bang UI change would be admitting they were wrong.

  • Here we go again

  • In the UK the vast majority of ATMs don’t charge, no matter which bank you use. The only ones I’ve seen charge are ones in clubs/pubs where I imagine the thinking is if you need cash for a taxi and you are a captive audience. However I have never seen anyone use one of those.

  • TIL a lot of American ATMs have withdrawal fees. Man is nothing free over there?

  • AI industry needs to encourage job seekers to pick up AI skills (undefined), in the same way people master Excel to make themselves more employable.

Has anyone in the last 15 years willingly learned excel? It seems like one of those things you have to learn on the job as your boomer managers insist on using it.

  • While I would accept a ban on X, the easiest way is to just to move away from it. If enough government, celebrity, news/sports accounts stop using it, the less relevant it becomes.

I can’t take a government seriously when they announce they are looking into banning X, whilst still being on it

  • Just think in 25 years you get to experience IRL Fallout 76

  • What is it with pubs and politicians. I get they are culturally significant but you’d think they are the only place people go outside of home and work in the uk with how they always make exceptions for them.

I feel like you can’t cut rates for pubs and not for cafes, for example, as there’s hardly anyone kicking off ant an costa and needing the police to show up.

  • United Kingdom @feddit.uk

Will the government be able to put 2 & 2 together

  • It has to be. I think Denmark will probably be first for obvious Greenland reasons, but hopefully that gets the ball rolling

  • Hasn’t No Man’s Sky won before? I don’t think you could vote for ones that had won before

  • Honestly the number of people in that thread claiming that walking 3 miles in 45mins was some super human ability was shocking. I’d bet good money that they have never actually walked more than 5 mins anywhere other than maybe when shopping.
