Ventpost aside, I think as leftists we need to be comfortable reading people with bad takes. Check Lenin's or Stalin's or Mao's libraries, they both read voraciously and critically-- liberals, anarchists, ultras, fascists, idealists. Analytical development comes from analytical practice, not a study of perfect truths.
That being said, the labor to record an audiobook is something else so I understand that frustration. I've gotten a lot of value from listening to and sharing your other recordings, and your criticism in this post is also educational.
In this case I'll take your word for it, from your description it sounds like there isn't much to be gained by reading a book that rife with disinformation. Your post just reminded me of something that's been on my mind recently. There's got to be a balance between not wasting time on nonsense books versus critically investigating things for ourselves to hone our own critical thinking skills.
My comment itself is probably a ventpost from my time trying to get by in a Trot org lol, some of the most anti-intellectual dogmatists I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with. Refused to read anything that wasn't published by their
cultorg, talked like Lenin and Trotsky were divine besties. Some of them bragged about having not read Capital lmao.I'm not gonna speak to this case and I'm too dumb to really know anything, but it's frustrating that everything is so dominated by spectacle and image nowadays to where the enemy gets to use every bit of subterfuge at their disposal to undermine us, but we can't really do the same against them.
Like maybe Mamdani will be disproportionately based and be the exception that proves the rule, but there's a plethora of examples of institutionalists giving lipservice to workers and then selling out to the bourgeoisie, and like zero examples of the opposite. But if someone were doing that, they'd lose support of leftists immediately, and for good reason since it's pretty much always the former. You gotta talk out of two sides of your face to get anywhere in politics, and the side that persists post-election is the one that's getting buttered (a tortured synthesis of two idioms was on my to-do list for today sorry).
Idk electoralism is a fuck, party politics is the solution
“Now look how the bosses do things! They have a good wish to make out like honest people with the worker from whom they buy labor power, with the merchant from whom they buy raw materials, but they have an eternal flaw, and the rest of us workers, who know how the industry works, shall go on strike. But to sell a commodity for more than it is worth is like selling with false weights, which is illegal. Therefore, if the workers were to expose their bosses’ tricks, they would be forced to close their factories; and to produce goods based on need, maybe they would open large government facilities; that would be much better.”
So the daydreaming worker arrived at home; and there, dined, went to bed, and slept deeply, dreaming of the disappearance of bosses and the creation of government workshops.
Sleep, poor friend, sleep in peace, while hope still rests within you. Sleep in peace, for the disappointing day will soon come. Soon you will learn how your boss can sell their goods for profit, without defrauding anyone. He will make you see how one becomes a capitalist, and a large capitalist, while remaining perfectly honest.
Now your dreams will never again be so peaceful. You will see capital in your nights, like a nightmare, that presses you and threatens to crush you. With terrified eyes you will see it get fatter, like a monster with one hundred proboscises that feverishly search the pores of your body to suck your blood. And finally you will learn to assume its boundless and gigantic proportions, its appearance dark and terrible, with eyes and mouth of fire, morphing its suckers into enormous hopeful trumpets, within which you’ll see thousands of human beings disappear: men, women, children. Down your face will trickle the sweat of death, because your time, and that of your wife and your children will soon arrive. And your final moan will be drowned out by the happy sneering of the monster, glad with your state, so much richer, so much more inhumane.
I've read some defences of it, but I'm not a biologist/geneticist so don't really know. I tend not to trust ideological reimaginings of scientific topics, like that one Trot cult guy that claims to have debunked the big bang theory with dialectical materialism. Of course capitalist science, as everything, should be examined critically, but just because someone's well-read in philosophy (or is a Trot that claims to be lmao) doesn't mean they know shit about biology or genetics.
Epigenetics might give it some ground, and there might be records of Lysenkoist practices actually improving yields (I haven't investigated this claim).
But my only real takeaway from it at this point is Lysenkoism or a rejection of western geneticism is pretty understandable for its time (even if it was ultimately incorrect) given the latter's close ties with eugenics and racism, something Western academia has tried to whitewash. I mean fuck, genetic determinists are still widespread and nonsense like The Bell Curve are still touted as truth by some, so the field could definitely use some radical criticism by someone well-versed in the science of it.
tagging here because I think grad is defedded and also to not derail your otherwise good comment

Stalin's brief denial that Operation Barbarossa had begun
I know you're just listing criticisms you'd heard and not making this claim yourself, but I wanted to point out that this is likely one of the many Khrushchev inventions that don't survive the opening of the Soviet Archives. I'm pulling from memory and a brief re-skim of Roberts' Stalin's Wars ch 4 and Medvedev's Unknown Stalin ch 11 here, so I recommend checking those out in addition to the poorly-summarized points I'm haphazardly throwing out below:
- The day before the invasion Stalin calls the Moscow air defense and puts them on immediate alert.
- That same evening a German deserts to the Soviets and warns of an attack, prompting Stalin and the leadership to send military directives in preparation for the attack.
- Secretary records and visitor logs show Stalin working in his office until 2:00AM on the 22nd prior to the attack, then leaving to his home to sleep, then returning at 3:40AM when the attack happens.
- Other leadership starts showing up at Stalin's office at 5:45AM, there's records of continuous meetings throughout the day.
- Stalin leaves in the evening to try to sleep, but returns again at 3:00AM the 23rd.
- Logs then show officials don't leave Stalin's office until 1:45AM the 24th.
Apologies for the rushed formatting lol
Reminds me of kitty history
Harvest is lookin good this year
I wonder if it had been infected prior to the vaccination. Depending on the location of the bite/scratch it can take months for symptoms to begin to show.
I know potential vectors are everywhere, but I'd also imagine there being more wild animal interaction in Georgia than Chicago.
If that's not the case, then failed vaccine administration/storage or immune system defect seems likely. After all, even the best vaccine isn't an immutable magic cure, it's just a method to prime an immune system for a specific pathogen. If the immune system is compromised or the vaccine dose defective (got too warm, was expired, poorly administered, etc) then it's not gonna work as well.

I don't even know who you are lmao
I am not an AI "bro", I'm a Marxist genuinely trying to understand your material analysis. You claim or imply OP's post is somehow supporting OpenAI, Trump, and the IDF, so you need to back that claim up with evidence or reasoning. Otherwise you're conflating two different things and using criticism of one to attack the other.
Training AI models uses a lot of energy. Using them after the fact uses very little. So the environmental point doesn't apply here.
Your other points are relevant for someone investing money in these specific corporations, I suppose? But that still doesn't explain any link between the OP using a generative model and their materially supporting anything.
At best they're semantically related, in the sense that the word "AI" is used to describe the generative algorithms used in the OP, and "AI" is also used to describe the corporations that support trump and the IDF. But that doesn't show a material link between the OP and these evil entities. So you're going to have to do a lot more work if you want to suggest OP is in any way "supporting" them.
And even if you could show that, it would still only be true if OP used OpenAI rather than any of the dozens of other options, such as DeepSeek.
Please explain how
All people are 12 but some people are more 12 than others
Yeah wtaf is this post? Am I missing some sort of context? Am I misreading the tweet saying peaceful protest isn't enough?
