  • Cameron is such an anomaly. really self-motivated guy, started off working class/blue collar, obviously he has some latent radical politics (anti-war, anti-imperialism, environmentalism etc)

    he probably leans towards narcissism like all the elite but in a way that almost seems deserved; he knows he's an intelligent and capable person and has proven it through action. using rich guy stuff to do some legit work instead of blowing it on drugs and anti-human projects

    the whole chapo theory that he is just another Napoleon but without wars to fight he became the Napoleon of Movies sometimes makes sense to me

    if we had socialism this guy would be leading some transnational research organization or something i don't think he'd be making movies except as a hobby

    the Federation is already nominally mature socialist but has not actually reached communism yet and the Borg could be seen as a failed path to "stateless, moneyless, classless" society. basically a species that decided to try a short cut (let's just all jack in and become a Society of One) instead of building communism on more natural terms.

    something like the Culture (Ian Banks) could be seen as what a truly communist Federation could become while still maintaining and protecting individual sapience. everyone's still jacked in but it's voluntary and entirely one directional. the neural lace (standard cybernetic augmentation everyone of biological origin has) is more about gaining totally authority over your own body and having built in communicator as well as putting humanoids on par with fellow sapient AI comrades

    (also the Queen did fuck this up badly i really hate that they went there. at most the Queen should just be a sort of hallucination of the greater Hive Mind or like a dream character created to interact easier with species difficult to assimilate)

  • i know i'm just so afraid to be sucked into the zone again. i was so obsessed i ended up in a tech news article about ksp related stuff lol.

    literally an entire year of scribbling designs at work, beta testing for modders, running games with 100+ mods and eventually making my own sub-mods, and finally running headlong into the actual game limitations

    one of the reasons i'm excited about it is it seems the engine was built from the ground up to overcome some of those limitations.
