Ah, and Bottles is currently broken. If you try to run something in the terminal, it doesn’t work. There is a bug report open, but the developer of the app is “busy”, so the only way to fix this is to downgrade the Flatpak.
DepressedMan@reddthat.comOPto Linux@programming.dev•The Wine development release 10.9 is now available.1·28 days agoGit? Yep. If you’re asking whether I clone wine from gitlab, the answer is yes. I clone it, compile it myself, and place it in the bottles directory. I also use Kron4ek builds for Wine Staging and TKG.

Many things still don’t work for me just a black screen. I try from time to time. I’m using bottles and disabled X11 permissions in flatpak to test wayland. I only play older titles (pre-2010). The oldest game I have is Total Annihilation (1997), and I also have Anno 1602 (1998). Neither game runs on Wayland, and they’re not the only ones. Some games do work, like majesty 2, but it has broken camera movement with the mouse. Wayland and wndows are too different to make certain behaviors match, so Xwayland is still needed for some applications.

I voted against him, but if Poles wanted a thug as president, then that’s what they’ll get. This is what democracy looks like, and it should be respected.

The new video player will replace Totem on Gnome 49.271·2 months agoIn my opinion, MPV is even better. I mean, it is faster and has better codec support. On the other hand, VLC has a better user interface with a lot of preferences. As for Showtime, oh boy, it’s a clear beauty!
For now I’m staying with MPV, because ffmpeg > gstreamer.
+1 ,but you can always add external games to Steam. I tried it once, and it worked. However, I prefer GOG over Steam because of its DRM-free policy and also prefer clean Wine over Proton, as I can report bugs directly to Wine bugtracker. I have some Steam games installed on Wine. Yes, I had to first install Steam inside Wine prefix and only after that install the games. Additionally, there is always pirated software, which I won’t add to Steam.

Nice. I love this project. Its much much better then wined(wine implementation), but I agree with wine philosophy. Opengl for more devices support was a good choice. Waiting for wine vulkan and wayland implementations.

DepressedMan@reddthat.comOPto Linux@programming.dev•The Wine development release 10.5 is now available.2·3 months agoProton already uses esync & fsync to get about the same resuts.
Correct me if I am wrong, but esync and fsync have compatibility issues with some games and this is the biggest problem.
DepressedMan@reddthat.comOPto Linux@programming.dev•The Wine development release 10.5 is now available.2·3 months agoBut so close I think. It’s already in 6.14 kernel.
I understand what you’re saying, but what I’m trying to say is that as a society, we have established certain rules: whoever gets more votes wins. This rule must be respected. Of course, I would protest if the elections were rigged, or if the new president were someone truly dangerous to others or to us. But Nawrocki is simply incompetent and has a criminal past. The President in Poland mainly has veto power; he cannot do much more than block new government laws. Sometimes, it’s better to have a president from a different party than the government, because then there isn’t absolute power in the hands of one party or coalition. Poland already has a president from this party, so nothing really changes. It hurts, but we can live with it. We’re simply ashamed. But everyone can be wrong. Maybe it’s better this way? Who knows. Time will tell. Trzaskowski would approve every European Union law, and that’s a problem. I think the EU is heading in the wrong direction. Now they want us to use an EU application to log into social media. Maybe this president will stop this madness. I think it would be better to block this law, even if it means paying a penalty.
