I fear people think this will be a short term thing but in reality if we want to protect our sovereignty it has to be more permanent. We need to evolve other markets.

I was responding to the comment where the worst fear was that pp eke’s out a majority and then they toss him. In my mind that implies if PP becomes PM then they would replace him with Elon which is not so easy.

They can’t toss Pierre. He would have to step down (like Trudeau) or die. Then the party re-elects a new head who would become PM until an election is called or required as mentioned earlier, we will have an election no later than October this year.
Look up Kim Campbell. Our only female Prime Minister.
He has a PhD in Economics and was the head of the Bank of Canada and more recently the head of the Bank of England. So yeah……can’t think of a better resume to navigate us through a trade war.
That is surprising. I would anticipated the opposite in Alberta.

I just moved to Signal and have convinced most of my family and many friends to join. It is very secure, non-profit and doesn’t share much personal data (the least of the main messaging services) and most of my luddite family has been able to figure it out.
“President Trump will do what President Trump wants to do. He has a plan, and I will play accordingly,” Goncalves said. “I’m a big boy. I bought Stelco knowing that Stelco is in Canada. And you know what? America first.” Lourenco Goncalves CEO of Stelco …purchased last year.
Donald Trump has offered to purchase Greenland. He wants to take the Panama Canal by brute force and keeps suggesting that Canada should become a State in order to avoid his oncoming tariffs. Meanwhile, Musk ‘donated’ about 250,000,000 USD to Trumps election campaign helping ensure he won and now we are all watching the US become an oligarchy. (Effectively Trump is owned by Musk).
Actually tariffs will hurt Canadians deeply. Why? Because it means that Americans will lean towards not buying products made in (or partially made in) Canada. Plus, Canada would certainly reciprocate meaning the price of everything is going to go up in Canada. It’s not a good situation and our government needed to be spending the past 10 - 20 years developing stronger trade relations with other countries but instead we amplified our relationship with what is clearly a very unreliable and untrustworthy neighbour.
Thanks. I responded at night, in a car barrelling down a highway. Prob should just figure out how to delete it.
