  • But yeah violent misogyny must be met with feminism with teeth. We will not go back.

I don't know: these people seem to be getting a permission structure from the government. Honestly, I've been watching some of this stuff and mostly being quiet about a lot of it, even online.

But if you ask me honestly? I'm terrified about the direction things seem to be going. I've seen lots of unhelpful intergenerational warfare, mostly about boomers and Gen Y taking shots at one another, while my generation (Gen X) is playing the part of the forgotten child, just as we always have. Boomers seem to get blamed for everything in life, but it's not like these other generations don't have any agency!

But I'm very concerned about Gen Z and alpha, and just where they are going. It's possible some of these people may break out of their mind forged manacles and moderate themselves or become more progressive, but that's not how these things tend to work. People tend to drift to the right as they get older, not the other direction. And if they are starting at the trad wife position at such a young age?....yikes.

  • Well, gosh. This falls right in line with what I've been saying and wondering aloud about things like the Fourth Turning.

The Archie Bunker thing was something boomers stood up to make fun of their parents' generation. That is the kind of thing that all this ginned-up inter-generational warfare that seems largely directed at the boomers (and the Silent Generation and Generation Jones somewhat) seems to miss.

And now we have all these younger "influencers" (barf) doing this kind of thing openly and unironically in the brosphere. The trad wife influencers. And those people and their fans are not the boomers...

  • HOLY SHIT.

    84 months!

We are going to continue to drive our 16 year old car and 8 year old car around for a while longer, I hope. I cannot imagine paying for a car for 7 years, damn.

  • Until these assholes get around to forcing people to join them in their xtian delusions.

  • Came here to say this. The radicalized Nat C's and the radical Islamists believe on far, far more than either would probably care to admit. Maybe a few matters of diet, what day to worship, and other things on the margins.

But both believe in the same god called Allah/Yahweh/Jehovah, and both have retconned stuff onto the Old Testament.

  • Oh, I'm quite sure the Nat C's would find ways to be destructive without the help of the zionists.

  • If it's "[their god Jehovah/Allah/Yahweh's] divine plan", why do they have to do anything?

  • Membership of the CPUSA peaked in the late 1940s, with over 75,000 members in 1947.[5] But their influence spanned beyond just their membership as some candidates in national elections garnered over 100,000 votes.

Apparently there were about 143.7 million people in the United States at the time.

Anyway, in all of my life, I've only met one person (IRL) that admitted they were a capital-C Communist.

  • I think it's orchestrated, myself.

It seems nihilistic and doesn't seem to have any real aim other than further dividing Democrats. There is nothing inherently good or bad about someone's age (well, unless they haven't fully developed the PFC - there is a reason there are age requirements at the lower end) when you are trying to determine if they are fit to lead.

Now, if people were to propose using more advanced screening techniques to catch things like Alzheimer's or other problematic things (I'd be a fan of trying to screen out various traits that lead to really bad leadership, myself, but obviously implementation would have many problems and of course many detractors), that might make more sense. But no, we are listening to what sounds like petulant teenagers having tirades about older people and it's rather boring. All of us were 14 once, but most of us evolved since then. The idea that you are only going to have representation from people who are in your "generation" is an incredibly silly and narcissistic one.

Lastly I keep saying this, but: this particular period of time is really not going to age very well if life extension and other breakthroughs come online.

  • There was?

  • ...has been trending down ever since Blondi did her little performance.

  • He really is quite stupid. Watching him first steer into the "but muh economy!" thing nearly at the outset, to initially being hopeful it was going to kill off more black people than white people, to having Jared withhold life-saving supplies and equipment from entire states not deemed loyal enough to Donvict, to stoking stupid conspiracy theories and nostrums like horse dewormer, while also wanting all the credit for the vaccine (which we really had Obama to thank), and so on...

Again, almost any normal human being without a broken brain and who had the barest modicum of empathy, or the ability to at least fake that empathy, could have done better at it.

  • PEDOnald meant himself first, everyone else...can get bent.

  • You cowardly bastard! You're not the voice of the people, I am the voice of the people! The people speak through me, not you! It came to me while I slept, Sonny... my destiny. In the middle of the night, it came to me - I must get up NOW, RIGHT NOW, and fulfill my destiny! Now you put your goddamn hand on that scanning screen, or I'll hack it off and put it on for you! DO IT!

    The missiles are flying. Hallelujah.

  • Donigula will declare war on the sea.

  • Thank goodness we dodged that Kamala bullet. It would have been just as bad.

  • Well said, all of this, even if it was a joke. Way too many reactionary centrists in my life try to pull the "but what about the dyes in food, tho?" and a few have noted the penny thing was something worthwhile, even though he screwed the pooch on rolling that out, if you can even call it a rollout.

Because they literally have nothing else, I guess? Even the reactionary centrists seem to realize that kidnapping people and giving them the extreme rendition treatment is a bad look.

On the dye thing - first of all, it was easy and free for me to avoid dyes if I so wished. Secondly, I have not seen anything actually happen on that front. And seriously, even if that was something I was wishing on a star to have happen, the tradeoff is....what? Threatening every single one of our allies, attacking Venezuela, Iran and attacking our own cities? Ripping way healthcare from millions? Firing untold numbers of government workers? Even more handouts to the already ridiculously rich?

  • Yep, even the most basic of things that should be a slam dunk are things he completely bungles.

He should have easily been able to unify the nation in dealing with a pandemic. But, nope. He so totally fucked that up. And same with the penny thing - we have plenty of examples, like Canada, where we could have learned about the rollout.

Instead, it's announced via his LieSocial site or whatever the fuck. With no phase out and no plan and no direction given.

He's just a complete asshole and has no idea what he is doing. He just wants his name and his dumb mug on things and that's about it. Oh and shiny medals being given to him.

  • Well, we aren't talking about the Donvict-Epstein files as much right now, are we?

  • We have always been [at war|not at war] with Iran.

You get to open Schrodinger's box at any given time when engaged with PEDOnald and the redcaps.
