  • A 2am xhitter tweet by a demented president doesn't actually change their orders. Even a signed executive order signed by the president doesn't do anything if it's general. Specific instructions need to be formalized and implemented and the morons in the WH aren't so good at that - it will take time, and if the try to back date policy they will likely be sued. Meanwhile, companies are shifting product to US warehouses quickly right now. And of course they won't lower prices to consumers because why would they, especially since the orange moron has said he will add tariffs back as soon as he can.

  • It isn't really that easy to monitor or control one's children's use of the internet. They're smart and can be good at figuring out ways to get what they want; more so as they get older. It's better to stay aware of what they're likely exposed to, and talk to them and prepare them to recognize harmful things and avoid them.

But putting some practical assumptions down seems to get us places, so there's that.Space is understood to be finite because it seems to have had a start and be expanding at a finite rate.I take the simplest explanation by default unless it's proven wrong.Consciousness is a tricky one since one can't measure it at all. So scientific approaches tend to immediately fail.Time is how we pervieve things, simplest explanation is that time moves how we perceive it. Physics seems to work with causality as we observe, so that's useful.

As a home owner, I can tell you that getting a plumber, electrician, sewer guy, appliance repair guy, roof repair guy, squirrel trapper guy, eavestrough guy, etc, etc. are all very expensive and it adds up. Plus property taxes, major stuff like roof replacement every 10 years, grass cutting, painting.But yes, it's also property values that go up - and that makes it more expensive to buy land because more people want to use that land. And as a result, the value of renting goes up. You could rent on the outskirts of town for much less; but you want to live in a nice spot just like everyone else. So how else do we proportions out the land except by attributing value to it and doing trades?
