I’ll write something here later probably. In the meantime, hi to whoever’s reading this I hope you get a chance to enjoy something kind today :)

  • I will never not find hamster cheeks hilarious.

Nature really said “hey what if we gave this cute tailless rat the ability to expand its face threefold for extra storage” and made these lil dudes.

  • So the Boston Globe is blaming women for men not attending college. Great.

Class consciousness and unlearning harmful biases go hand-in-hand. Feminism is a big part of this, yes.

The other big part of this is for these particularly disaffected men to realize the apparatuses feeding them their beliefs are the enemy of the working class (which is most of them! Look, something they can relate to).

Women and minorities are not out to hurt men. The reason they’re finding life increasingly inaccessible is the ever-widening gulf between the wealthy and the rest of us. How to reach them on that, I don’t know. But it’s a critical piece of the puzzle.

  • Roughly season 2 of Our Flag Means Death

  • It looks so soft!

  • Not OP but I can fully accept I’m a roving idiot ¯(ツ)

  • Kind of. Scaling back your calorie intake while getting enough macro/micronutrients is a tricky balance, but doable (if you’re going from a very high weight to something in a middle body mass range).

  • Not quite a rename but this song brings a similar vibe.

  • What would make YOU excited to go out and hang out around other people? I feel that the entire premise is dying, and adults are equally crippled by this problem as kids

That’s a completely fair question and point.

My being an adult skews my answer, so idk if it’s a fair one but I recently went to a local concert and had a blast with the other people there. What makes me, as an individual, excited overall is knowing other people will be there and the place will feel alive.

Unstructured but available activity seems to be the unifying theme for the location attractions of our own pasts. I don’t have a perfect solution but identifying the issues seems to be a step, at least.

  • This isn't a specific platform problem, it's a social problem and needs social solutions.

The erosion of free (or mostly free), teen-friendly physical third spaces is a big part of this problem, imo. As is the culture of clamping down on kids’ free movement irl. Young people need to have safe spots to hang out together without being pressured to spend money or have a ton of adults breathing down their necks.

Not saying that misogyny or bigotry would disappear, but bringing these back in an accessible way could allow kids to grow again without dealing with corporate surveillance apparatuses as their only social lifeline.

I quite enjoyed hanging out with my friends without having a flood of antisocial adults hurl venom at us on repeat. They deserve that chance too.

  • Beans for the bean gods! /j

I hope you’re able to keep your beans safe in the future, anyhow.

  • What do you have against weevils? :(

  • For purely informational purposes, what are some examples of “illegal tools?” 🤔 👀

  • I was raised in Northern US. My ancestry mainly comes from the Mediterranean. I don’t understand why they moved there, because I was a shell of myself for like 6 months of the year.

I moved to a warmer climate and still can’t function until it hits like 65°F/19°C with sunlight. I can do as low as 70°F/21°C with overcast and rain.

I also can’t do dry air. I need humidity or my asthma flares up bad. My favorite days are 85°F/29°C+ with overcast drizzle or sunshine and minimal breeze. I can finally breathe and my body stops hurting.

  • Not a catgirl but hella neurodivergent.

I’ve been getting back into FOSS games again, specifically Luanti. Luanti is a voxel (Minecraft-like) engine, formerly called Minetest.

Luanti is awesome in that it goes so. far. beyond anything that Minecraft does. There’s a whole in-engine content browser of various games you can install to the engine, alongside mods and texture packs. Even the big Minecraft-like games; VoxeLibre and Mineclonia have features that MC doesn’t.

Luanti is also programmed in Lua, which is a more human-readable and generally accessible coding language. There’s solid modding documentation, and the content community is great.

Gameplay controls are granular, and can be customized on a per-game basis. There’s different map generation methods which also adds to the customizability.

    AND IT’S ALL COMPLETELY FREE.

The minor downsides are poor gamepad support and harder-to-find answers due to the community being small, but that’s just part of being relatively niche.

Oh, and it’s available on F-Droid.

I’m also working on a texture pack based on a pre-existing HD pack, but haven’t reached out to the original maintainer yet to formally add to the project/upload a separate version.

One of the few games I’m willing to play KBM for because I just love it that much 😁

  • Your story thread here could easily be on the BestofLemmy comm hot damn 🤯 /gen /pos

  • Neptr from Adventure Time vibes

  • AI Agent = LLM, or fancy autocorrect chatbot

Lands PRs = is successful with pull requests: successfully gets generated code added to software projects.

OSS Projects: Open Source Software. Software that has its code publicly available.

Targets Maintainers: seeks out humans who write and regularly update the original code

Via Cold Outreach: relentlessly spams without prior network connections. Basically plays a digital door-to-door sales technique, using a numbers game of 100 “no”s to 1 “yes.”

Quick translate: Slop bot harasses human programmers into allowing poorly generated/formatted code into important software projects.

  • Great news! Before the age of 18, they’re not women.

  • You forgot that you’re on Lemmy, friend lmao
