  • Imagine learning dialectical materialism and historical materialism not just from books, but in a structured setting from people who have been practicing and developing it for 75 years, at a college level.

  • Django Reinhardt had pretty bad damage to his fretting hand too from a fire, and that dude shredded like no other.

  • No that goes to Cherry, which just tastes like cough medicine.

  • Polis is so fucking bad. He won because of being not a psychopath like his opposition was, but he’s full on pro business anti worker. Just look at the things he’s vetoed this year alone, dude doesn’t give a fuck about anything but profits for companies.

  • AI is best used for helpful tasks that would otherwise be unfeasible for individuals, like predicting maintenance on rail lines so resources can be dispatched to repair issues before they become fatal. I don’t really see much use in any of the public facing uses of it.

  • I did, then I got old. Now I like being in bed by 10 and up by 630. My wife though, despite being physically older than me, still loves to be up till 3 most nights. Really, I think what I like is getting out of work at 3pm, and I can only do that if I’m there by 7, so if working hours were shorter, I’d probably stay up late again

  • What happened the 5th of October, do you even know?

  • I’d rather have a one party state under a communist party than a two party state under two capitalist parties. In both cases it’s immediately obvious who these parties serve, in China, it’s the people and society, in the U.S., it’s the billionaires and capitalist class.

  • My job does 4.5 days at full pay during summer, and it is so goddamn liberating. I actually have time to do things, I have more energy because I can take extra time to rest after completing my weekend tasks, I can get into doctors without missing work and having to make it up later. Genuinely, fighting for 4 day week, 8 hour days, and full 40 hour pay should be higher on the labor movements priority list, like it was when we won the 40 hour week in the first place.

  • A large percentage of Chinas gdp is domestic consumption, and that percentage is growing by leaps and bounds year over year. They are moving away from reliance on export, though not there yet.

  • Establishing workers councils in all companies isn’t socialist?

  • No, it’s not, but it’s not worth arguing over, so I’ll just leave it at what I’ve already said

  • Not really true. The proximity of the audio components to other components on the motherboard results in inevitable impact on the audio quality, unless it’s some special hyper shielded motherboard that I’ve yet to see. A DAC is going to sound better 9 out of 9 times than onboard audio.

  • I guess it’s device dependent. —

  • Push dash twice on a phone, no alt code needed. Almost no one uses social media on a computer anymore.

  • They’re already in a union, this is China. All companies over a certain size are unionized by law.

  • I got Septerra Core in a dual pack with some mech game I never really liked for like $3 at Wal Mart probably 20 years ago, and instantly fell in love. I’ve never beaten it, but it holds a very special place in my heart. The art, the story, the lore, the world, are all very memorable and you’re the first person I’ve ever heard mention it.

  • It’s so bad. Even in high school I knew a lot of people who were illiterate 20 years ago, but it’s gotten even worse nowadays. I made sure to teach my young brothers to read before they were a few years old, because school was never going to teach them. I was always a voracious reader, and I think a lot of it comes down to being read to as a child, which made me want to read ASAP. I think the alienated and disaffected parents these days don’t have the energy for that, and so we have entire generations of iPad kids. Don’t get me wrong, I was a gamer kid, but you could only replay Mario World so many times, and so I’d end up reading books, but now the slop is available as a non-stop intravenous drip feed custom tuned to light up your dopamine receptors. Without boredom, people never do anything that challenges them I feel.

  • I bet half those people are still rocking their old cow colored Gateways.
