  • hafta?

  • We do already, it's called Minecraft.

  • The only real advantage being small has is that a larger opponent might underestimate you or just have no idea how to fight someone smaller. Otherwise, in any physical fight, they're just going to have an advantage.

Why would they let you get to their belly with their superior reach? They can use their own knife/whatever to hit you first.

Obviously, for anything, they might also just not be as trained as you or have whatever other disadvantages, but in general, assuming equal skill and effort and no mental biases, i.e. everything else being equal, larger simply equals better in a physical fight.

  • Well, in that case, if "life goes on", then new books should keep coming and coming...

  • I don't really understand where you're coming from here or rather what exactly you talk about. You reading, learning and doing athletics is exactly what I meant in my comment, so I think it's amazing you're doing those things.

But also yes, I intentionally made this comment because it seems like as you experienced, a lot of people need to do more of it, including your exes.

And the "being subordinate" is also exactly what I meant, they see you being amazing and comparison leads to them feeling bad about themselves, which is obviously your fault /s.

    Are you lonely?

  • The most important problem is bettering oneself. Aligning your subconscious with your rational mind and making sure that you don't do stupid human things like greed, pride, jealousy, wrath, etc.

Almost everyone thinks they are a "good person" and "don't do these things" but almost everyone has certain situations that trigger them or behavioral patterns that automatically include them, i.e. almost no one is actually as good as they think they are.

Identifying these triggers and patterns in you and taking steps to mitigate/remove them is the largest impact you can have on the world.

It's also one of the hardest things because admitting your wrongs to yourself is very painful. One's ego is a powerful thing that is one of the worst pains a human can feel when bruised. That's why it's so much easier to look for "other people to blame", it keeps your ego from hurting you.

But each and every person thinks like that and thus becomes "part of the problem". Even if you're a "better person than X other person", that doesn't mean you should just stop improving yourself and try to change X instead, because chances are, you'll never change how X behaves. But it's much more likely you'll be able to change how you behave yourself and actually have an impact on the world.

If you try it for a while, or if you experienced it yourself, it's very ineffective to try to change other people. The only thing that really works is helping people change themselves. But if the will is not already there, there's basically nothing you can do. And thus, creating that will in yourself is the best thing you can do.

  • Yeah, you might use it like that, but YouTube is a video hoster so people expect video, Patreon is a payment platform so people expect payment. Kind of obvious why one would do well and the other doesn't, even if you don't use it for what people think it's for.

If you use something not connected with payment, you'd probably see similat results between that and YouTube.

  • Like any country, it heavily depends where exactly you go and with which people you surround yourself with. Of course there are certain trends, but I've traveled a lot, and overall the differences are pretty minor (compared to other "developed"/rich countries). Like everywhere, the metropolitan centres are super diverse and very forward, if you go rural you more often get closedmindedness and nationalism. If you go suburb, you get suburban culture.

I think the "certain trends" are mostly positive, like order, properness and following rules. You get some backward things like lots of paperwork, power hierarchies, but also forward things like proper courts and strong unions.

Globalization really blurred the lines, socially, a lot.

  • Bla.

Was für Einsichten xD

  • I recently saw a DS9 episode where O'Brien said life support is down and it's going to be a problem in a day or sth, was pleasantly surprised at that.

Might still not be accurate, but at least it was not a "oh shit we'll die now" kind of thing.

  • In case of this, definitely the grains.

Most of this rice is not worth stealing :D

  • This is good satire. I'm sure the cartoonist knows that not being good at sex and wanting to learn is not a problem, and that calling a talkshow while having sex is. By acting like the one thing is the problem and the other isn't, you need to think to understand this.

    And it generates easy outrage.

And by looking into this comment section, you can see that it "worked".

  • What I guess I don't get with this advice is, if you have the ability to save $X per week, why do you need to know about your headphones, why don't you just save $X a week?

I understand that people seem to generally use up their expendable income immediately, but for me, I simply saved whenever I didn't need to buy something. So in the background, without even thinking about it, money just accumulates. And then, when my headphones break, I just use some of that money that accumulated for headphones.

That obviously only works if you have expendable income. But that's what the original advice requires anyway, it requires this ability of $2 savings per week, so the expendable income is already obviously there.

I just feel like it's so much work to do this for every single thing, when instead you could just simply save whatever is "over" your survival needs, and then draw from that fund whenever necessary without thinking about each item individually.

  • So what is a dog's response going to be whether to repair a street or not? Hire this person or that person? Build this or that building? Use this or that contractor?

Of course Trump is going to choose the wrong thing. However, a dog is too dumb to even understand the choices or even that a choice is offered to them or even the context of being a leader.

It's entirely ridiculous to suggest a dog is smarter than even a dumb adult human like Trump. All you're doing is just showing that your hatred is bigger than your sense of truth, i.e. you're ready to bend the truth to hurt your enemies.

  • When you're dead.

  • It kinda depends how you define "a day". The usual standard colloquial definition we use would be a "solar day", i.e. how long it takes for it to go dark and light once each, i.e. noon to noon.

The definition you're using in this post though is a "sidereal day", which if you just say "a day" no one would mean, thus this post is misleading. A sidereal day is how long a planet needs to spin around itself.

A Venus "solar (normal) day" (like we normally use the phrase "day") is 116.75 earth days, while a Venus year is 224.7 earth days. The "sidereal day" that you're talking about here is 243 earth days long. So a day on Venus is actually shorter than a year on Venus, at least if you use our usual definition of "day".

Since Venus itself spins opposite to its orbit around the sun, its own spin together with its orbiting around the sun add up together to make the "solar (normal) day" shorter.

An Earth sidereal day is 23 hours 56 minutes while its solar day is 24 hours long. Here, the sidereal day is shorter than the solar day, because the Earth spins in the same direction as its orbit.

  • As a German, "German culture" is really not worth preserving.

  • No. But who needs chemical addiction when you can be addicted to the feeling of power over life and death it provides?
