    Pierre Poilievre (PP) was defeated in his riding of Carleton (in Ottawa, Ontario) and another MP from his party, Damien Kurek, offered to step down from his position as MP in a riding in Alberta so that PP could run.

    The only opposition was an independent candidate, Bonnie Critchley.

    He didn't exactly win anything in my opinion. He simply waltzed into a position a bootlicker gave up for him and abandoned the supporters in his riding to further his political career.

  • In the context of the universe as a whole, what even is "useful"? Maybe its just here to shine bright for a few trillion years and that's all it needs to be. Art doesn't need to be useful.

    If human history tells us anything its that we'd somehow suck the beauty out of it all in the name of profit.

    I'm not really a nihilist or anything but it seems like almost anything we touch turns to shit. I'm all for colonizing the moon and Mars and making use of the asteroid belt but on bigger scales, maybe its better off to just sit back and enjoy the view?

  • If ICE cars were banned for everything but racing/recreation I'd be very happy.

    Racing series' do not need to make their race cars green. They need to make their logistics fleets green. Race cars need to be able to remain loud and dirty. The sights, sounds, and smells of racing combine to create the majesty that is racing.

    I look forward to a future of efficient public transit, no new ICEs on the roads and V12s back in F1.

  • I'm glad they re-made the worst entry in the early era of the series and didn't fuck with Sons of Liberty. That game is literally perfect. MGS3 is tedious AF. Still fun and better than a lot of games, but massively overhyped. Also, worst fucking camera system in the history of gaming in the original PS2 version. Truly atrocious.

    I hope it turns out well, but I still doubt that I'll play it.

  • Yeah, I was there for pre-2000 internet. It was cool back then too. I just remember 2010 as the last era where the internet still felt fun. That's all gone now.

  • I agree that they deserve what they get, but there needs to be some restriction to defense so that someone who has no intent on confrontation doesn't get their fucking head blown off or smashed in.

    You shouldn't be able to just intentionally kill someone because they're in your home, but if they don't leave immediately, you should be able to royally fuck them up beyond belief until they decide to bail. If they've got a weapon and they don't leave within 5 seconds of you catching them in the house, that's a different story.

    At that point it should be safe to argue that you were in mortal danger and exacted equal punishment to the invader that they intended to inflict on you. If they don't leave immediately after being caught, they make a conscious choice to remain in the face of danger. The problem I see is that if someone carrying a weapon in your home is beaten and let go, there's a chance they hold a grudge against you and come back to exact vengeance.

    You shouldn't have to move and abandon your home just because some fucking degenerate is butthurt about having their ass beat. If they leave without a fight, let them leave. If they stay while you've got a bat or a golf club in your hand, you should have full license to revoke their right to personal safety. This is just my opinion.

    I love my wife more than anything and the thought of someone even threatening her by breaching into our home while she's there would make it very difficult to remain sane in the moment. I think it would be foolish to treat that as anything other than a mortal threat.
