  • Due to my androgyny, I have been letting people have a "choose your own adventure" approach to my gender, as I am gendered inconsistently.

    If someone calls me a man, okay, then I am a man.

    If someone calls me a woman, okay, then I am a woman.

    I sometimes engage in gendered code switching with my voice because of this.

    For instance, let's say I go into the grocery store, and the cashier says, "Find everything you need, ma'am?" I will respond with an unequivocally feminine voice to accommodate their perception.

    Let's say I go into a coffee shop immediately after, and then the barista says, "What can I get you today, sir?" then I might respond with "A large black Americano" with my most bassy, masculine voice.

    I got used to it by now.

  • Honestly, at this rate, in some weird kind of way, despite me being on HRT for years and having no regrets, I feel more comfortable calling myself a GNC/androgynous/effeminate man/male/boy than I do a non-binary person, but I typically do not.
