Qatar Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi says the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran and the logistical disruptions on Gulf energy exports will have devastating consequences for the global economy, according to an interview published by the Financial Times (FT) on 6 March.
“This will bring down the economies of the world,” Kaabi told FT.
“If this war continues for a few weeks, GDP growth around the world will be impacted. Everybody’s energy price is going to go higher. There will be shortages of some products and there will be a chain reaction of factories that cannot supply.”
The energy minister said the disruption could escalate rapidly if Gulf energy exports are halted.
