Who Killed Captain Alex? is a 2010 indie martial arts action comedy movie filmed in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, on a budget of USD 85. Called "Uganda's first action movie," Who Killed Captain Alex? became a global cult classic due to its ultra-low production value, with many people calling the movie "so bad it's good", and others simply praising the effort put into making the movie on such a shoestring budget. Director Nabwana I.G.G. partially based the movie on his own experiences in the Ugandan Bush War, and created the movie to "challenge the idea that cinema is only for the rich".
…Put another way, Who Killed Captain Alex? is "live action fanime", and here at TV☆3SIS we sure do love our fanime, don't we?
Plot description from IMDb:
Uganda's president gives Captain Alex an assignment to defeat the Tiger Mafia, but he gets killed in the process. Upon hearing the tragic news, his brother investigates to avenge Alex's death.
We will be watching the only surviving version of Who Killed Captain Alex?, namely the version with the much-memed "video joker" overdub, which provides original jokes and commentary. "Video jokers" or "video jockeys" (VJs) are apparently a staple of Ugandan cinema.
The runtime is 68 minutes so we'll probably have some time for Fireman Sam afterwards.
