How often do you abandon a current playthrough and start another one instead? Why?

Over the years, I've had my fair share of runs across all the FS games that I've had to abandon and start over on for numerous reasons - be it because I hadn't played the game too long and didn't know where to go and what to do, or because I "soft-locked" myself by being in a situation where I will probably not get out of that easily. Currently contemplating starting over in DS1 because I got myself cursed, can't find my way back to the bells to cure it, and am not good enough to run through the swamp and kill Quelaag. At this point, it feels easier to just start over. Factor in that I haven't played the game in a couple years and that, while typing this, I just realised that my save was deleted anyways (😂) I have no choice but to start over.
