The Golgi Apparatus is basically the logistical center of a cell. It receives proteins and other stuff on the cis face from the Endoplasmatic Reticulum, which produces proteins (technically it doesnt but I want to keep it simple), the it packs the received molecules into vesicles to make the ready for transportation and then ejects them on the trans face to be transported out of the cell.
