This is the only one I have unfortunately. I’ve been told the spider was mostly black or a very dark shade of brown.
Well, then the best I can do is suggest Scotophaeus sp. with a big maybe attached.

This is probably the most important first glance detail that allows you to really narrow it down, so you’ve done well on that. But, as you realised (I noticed the edit, more on that later), it’s not actually that narrow.
My first thought was Clubionidae, then Gnaphosidae. But I can’t really give you a better reason other than “because it looked like them”. It’s just experience from looking at tens of thousands of spider pictures. And none of your suggestions are bad on first glance.
