The Kremlin confirmed Tuesday that the Russian government is in negotiations with other countries to purchase gasoline as it tries to stabilize its domestic market following a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on oil refineries and energy infrastructure that have led to fuel rationing. “Discussions are actively being held,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters during a daily briefing.
Last week, Reuters cited industry sources as saying that Russia was discussing importing 50,000 metric tons of AI-92 grade gasoline from Kazakhstan.
As far as i know, AI-92 is some low grade, high emission fuel that has been outlawed in europe since 1996 or 2000. And because cleaner fuels have been available for 30 years, modern and computerized petrol engines with a fine tuned catalytic converter that have been sold in the EU won’t be able to run on AI-92 without causing some expensive problems. Saw some videos where russians complained that their dashboards light up like a Christmas tree and the engine stalled repeatedly after they managed to get any kind of fuel for their cars.
The other disaster waiting to happen is a food shortage, because you cannot seed, fertilize or harvest without fertilizer or diesel for all the machines, or trucks to distribute it.

A lot of Russians actually grow some food themself. For the rural population it is pretty simple and the city dwellers often have access to dachas. However going to them might be a problem…

No worries, they don’t have many of those left anyway.
