Cato Institute Senior Editor Michael Chapman explained that the poll did not define socialism, leaving it up to the respondents to determine what the term meant. He noted that regardless of which of the many definitions of socialism the respondents may have had in mind, all forms of socialism share a “disdain for capitalism.”
the key part here to me. this doesnt move me, bc i feel like a huge part of that figure will still conflate UBI’s existence with socialism, will still think it’s a flat idea of Egalitarianism or the nonsense of levelling down that’s been drilled into them. the one statistic that would make me move is a favorable view of the PRC, the DPRK, actual projects, and even then i would doubt whatever positive opinion most usa genz have of PRC is purely because it’s now undeniable the USA is a shithole. not saying that this isn’t positive news but it’ll take a lot of political education to elucidate to americans the true nature of scientific socialism beyond whatever APUSH teaches them
I will believe when I see
the kids are alright
