if we all are so cynical that we can’t allow for a redemption arc, what are we fighting for?

A con artist knowning when to pivot to the next con isn’t anything to do with redemption, it’s just recidivism.

One thing I’m fighting for is rational, fact-based decision-making. Ascribing honorable motives to a person who has never shown a sign of having them is softheaded fantasizing.
