Not as bad as being locked into shitty Apple Intelligence. Though I hear it is better… but low bar.
My iPad Pro is second gen, but battery life is awful tried replacing battery, no improvement so just Apple being Apple. But how do I justify paying to upgrade an iPad that does a few things well, to a new iPad that does the same few things well. Also, I’d need to buy a new $300 pencil because reasons. It was a 2020 COVID lockdown purchase, but it’s all so egregious I have to say no.

What do you use the pencil for? Just writing and annotating? A $30 3rd party pencil will work perfectly fine.

You only really need the Apple Pencil if you want to go into drawing

The Pro is a very premium device with a small target of use-cases. Costs more than a very capable Air.

These days, get the cheapest iPad that works with a pencil (if you must) and has enough storage. Long battery life and near-laptop power.

Lots of professionals work on MacBook Airs or Minis.

      Edit: also

      1. turn off the pushy Siri. Look it up. The issue of telemetry is the real problem, but only linux lets you escape telemetry.
      2. battery life is complicated; if you got a third-party replacement, they’re generally about 2/3 the running time of a stock battery and have about half the charge cycle—plus some user habits can really tank a battery quickly.
