Objects with the color red (red rose, red star, red flag) became symbols of the workers’ movement. The clenched fist also became a symbol of the workers’ struggle. I think the fist and rose is a good symbol, too bad it became co-opted by people who were trying to lure the workers out of the revolutionary movement.
