    you show up to a first date with cookies and say “my mom made these”, you’re going to be lucky to even get a first date.

    it’s a bright red flag.

        Yes. Honestly even if they were grown up I would first put this in the “still has good relationship with local mom” column, a rare green flag these days. Only if part of a larger pattern of dysfunction would I treat it as a red flag.

        But OOP is likely (A) a teenager, because moms don’t usually know anything about their adult kid’s vehicle, and (B) a boy, because this is obvious boomer humor. A mom knowing about their teenage son’s date is expected.

        The gift of cookies just means she likes the gf and wants her to know. Green flag only.

          Yeah, it absolutely depends on context. As a teenager, that’s pretty cute. But at my age (mid-30s) I’d be weirded out that someone told their mom about me before we’d even had our first date.
