This special ticket is designed to help people who are struggling with high fuel prices. By lowering the cost, the government hopes more people will choose the train instead of their car for summer trips across the country.
For reference, I have an all day free subscription, paid for by my employer thankfully, which costs 400 euro per month.
A subscription for just the line from home to work was more expensive for some reason, and train tickets without a subscription would cost me over 750 euro per month.
