    Grass doesn’t feel pain, that’s the joke. It doesn’t have a nervous system with which to feel. Plants feel pain is used as a justification for ignoring the pain and suffering we inflict on other animals, because “you aren’t perfect either, plants feel pain too!”

      It wasn’t very long ago that people claimed babies couldn’t feel pain, animals had no consciousness, etc. Just because a thing isn’t functionally like us does not necessitate that it has no ability to feel something like our feelings of pain.

        It may be more accurate to say then that: Based on current understanding plants do not feel pain. However, that does not necessarily rule out that they do, more research may suggest that they do. Until then it may be a fair to assume that they do not.

          Which would make it sort of fucked up to mock them feeling pain and suffering, as we can’t say they definitely don’t. Yeah, that was the point.
