I’ve been dreaming of EVs that can do this kind of thing for years. My ideal feature would be a camper van EV with solar panels, and the electric motors would be allow it to autonomously track the sun. Park it in a sunny spot with a circle of space around it, and it handles optimal charging/tracking while you are away or sleeping inside.
Would it not be easier to just rotate the solar panels? A self-driving van on a campground with other people sounds like a very bad idea.
With electric motors, it just rotates on the same spot without moving much at all. Like a tank with the treads going opposite directions. The movement would also be so slow, it would barely be perceptible, like moving an inch every 10 minutes or so.
