    It was sorta expected they would be highly qualified senior judges, so you have like 20 25 years, not grabbing law school grads that can sit for 50 years. I would support 20 year term, the point is that they should be less sensitive to politics.

          Exactly.

          There’s a very good book, The Founders’ Coup, that discusses exactly how much of the US Constitution was designed purposefully to remove democracy. And while that had one expression in the 18th century (rich land and slaveowners), in the 21st century it’s just oligarchy when you remove democratic constraints.
