If “antifa” is mentioned in the context of “references to historical or recent incidents of violence” — a category so sprawling that it includes “historic wars” and “battles” — that post will also be penalized. Should Meta apply this rule as written, the company could, for instance, restrict posts comparing the antifascist nature of World War II to the contemporary antifa movement.

Potential penalties for violating Community Standards range from a full account ban to comments being hidden or suppressed.

The policy change follows years of Meta and its chief executive Mark Zuckerberg’s pivot of political convenience toward President Donald Trump and his base. Following Trump’s second electoral victory, Meta quickly changed its speech rules to allow for anti-transgender slurs and dehumanization of immigrants, The Intercept previously reported, aligning the company with longtime MAGA culture war grievances.

A fascist government doesn’t first announce itself as fascist, it labels anti-fascists as terrorists. This is a move to present anti-fascism as an extremist position and to censor those comments, part of a larger goal to normalize fascism

I’m guessing the same reason they do anything - they think they’ll make more money.

Edit: Not that I think appeasing fascists is a financially sound decision long term, but I won’t lose any sleep if they go bankrupt.

While I think we can all agree Facebook was a bad idea, and we all see is been steadily declining, there’s not really any reason for it to exist anymore. If you made a similar enough clone that the boomers could figure it out, run it in a distributed format to avoid hosting fees (webtorrent maybe?), limit storage to something reasonable to reduce loads and keep things fresh….

It doesn’t need to be great. It just needs to be enough to bring boomers away so Facebook fucking starves is all I’m saying.
