I like listening to it while trying to sleep or while doing work in the background, and the history gives me inspiration for what to write about

But is there anything I should know that might be controversial or something wrong dropping the whole series for?

Also recommendations for similar podcasts would be nice

I love it! He does point out that he’s intereated in telling a story so I feel like he doesn’t caveat as many of the less attested stories and break the flow… Really great podcast though. I re-listen to episodes going to sleep

    Similar ones I like:

    • The Histocrat
    • Stefan Milo (prehistory)
    • Byzantium and Friends

      Byzantium and Friends is wonderful.

RE: Fall of Civilizations, it’s solid. It’s not in my constant rotation, but I pop in for an episode here and there. Elon Musk is a fan, allegedly, which sucks but I wouldn’t let the world’s most boring man dictate my tastes.

      I’d also recommend:

      • Ancient Greece Declassified (informed host, great interview questions, interesting topics)
      • Bow and Blade (medieval battles, both hosts are veteran historians / educators)
      • History of Byzantium (in the vein of History of Rome; I just love Eastern Roman history, so I feel compelled to recommend it)

oof. lame… don’t want to admit to liking things musk likes. I’ve heard good things about the history of byzantium podcast. Have you heard of “byzantium and friends”. That’s another one I like a lot
