@therizzler had SIGNIFICANTLY more candor than most of the slithering people on this app, my response is as follows:

That’s friendslop, you only believe it because pleasant people said it… fair enough. Viet Nam is trying to escape a brutal dependent situation, & Israel is treated like another part of the first world doing the usual gatekeeping through certain monopolies, but that treatment is different than what they get from non-communist countries.

Beware of Job Recruitment Information for Israel: Ministry of Interior Issues Warning — Vietnam.vn [2025-05-13]

Expand summary

The Vietnamese Ministry of Interior warns that it currently has “no policy allowing the recruitment & placement of workers in Israel” in any field or profession. Workers should only seek information from official sources such as the Department of Overseas Labor Management & avoid trusting ads or promises on social media platforms like Facebook & Zalo.

It’s not some kind of purely moral framing I’m trying to apply here about the attempted genocide, Phoenix Program, claiming defectors were POWMIAs & trying to assassinate them, chemically exterminating the whole ecosystem, creating a persistent public health crisis setting back the development of the region (agricultural self-sufficiency not just for cash crop export is the core of a nation’s development). Those things are awful & created the situation where the periphery is unable to launch a unilateral global siege on Israel, which is what would be required to block resale of key resources to it by its allies, which utterly bankroll it. BDS, while rhetorically effective, is vastly overshadowed by the effectiveness of smashing Israeli infrastructure with missiles, thus rendering firstoid supplies of investment, military aid,&SSettlers ineffective / counterproductive+costly / proper scared. VN is an ally of IR. The US has targeted the VN petroleum industry for violating IR sanctions (use VPN or archive it (I’m too lazy)). Different vessels have been labeled part of a “shadow fleet” 🙀🙀. VN’s response: “Regrettable. 😎” [continues trading with Iran epic China-style].

Iran Vietnam Stress on Furtherance of Ties Based on Bilateral Agreements — Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran [2026-03-29]

Expand summary

Iranian FM Hossein Amirabdollahian & Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang underlined joint efforts to boost cooperation across political, economic, commercial, scientific, & cultural fields, with Hang reporting that bilateral relations are “growing & satisfactory” & that recent talks had “useful & fruitful” results, stressing that existing deals must be followed up & implemented.

In light of the economic cost of the war in Iran, opening up high-level industries provides a lot more leverage than taking a rhetorical stance that isolates VN at a critical point in ts development. The punishment is harsh it is like asking a man just out of the hospital & recovering in the gym from an injury to fight.

Iran Seeks to Strengthen Ties with Viet Nam in Various Areas: President — Nhan Dan [2025-06-04]

This one really sticks in my mind for obvious reasons 😎:

Iran Frees Vietnamese Tanker Seized After US Navy Confrontation — Al Jazeera [2021-11-10]

Expand summary

Iran freed the Vietnamese tanker Sothys, seized in late October after the IRGC said it “thwarted an attempt by the US navy to ‘steal’ Iranian oil by force.” The IRGC reiterated that “the operation of the navy force of the terrorist US army was foiled” when its elite forces boarded the ship, warned off US vessels & aircraft, then returned the tanker to Iranian shores. Tehran said Washington was trying to enforce unilateral sanctions, while the US denied any effort to steal the Iranian oil, saying its forces only monitored. IRGC Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami called the seizure an “unforgettable” day & “major victory,” with another commander noting US ships were “less than 30 meters away”—proving that they were not just observing. The incident was publicized ahead of nuclear deal talks in Vienna.

Response part two, part three.

Under DotP, foreign investment & trade controls allow funneling of resources into productive industries. VN has an even more sophisticated understanding of this than the USSR, because of the USSR & China (the master) in part ofc (not to say there aren’t a lot of contradictions resulting from this, I could go on about CIA influence on the VN education system forever I should actually but not here), the structure of which I will address in long form on this site when I get off my lazy aSSSS. Lenin put a very fine point on the utilization of trade with imperialists against imperialists.

One of the weakest spots in Balfour’s speech is the statement that the Japanese are going to help the Russians.{2} Which Russians?

In Russia today there is one power, which by its nature is destined to wage a life & death against the attacks of international imperialism-that is the Power of the Soviets. The first step, however, of those Russians, whom the Japanese intend to “help”, as soon as they heard rumours of the advance of the latter, was to demand the abolition of the Soviet Power. Should the Japanese move into Siberia, these same “Russians” whom the Japanese are going to “help”, will demand the abolition of the Soviets throughout the whole of Siberia. What can take the place of the Soviet Power?

The only power that can take its place is a bourgeois government. But the bourgeoisie in Russia has proved clearly enough that it can only remain in power with foreign help. If a bourgeois government, supported by outside help, should establish itself in power in Siberia, & Eastern Russia become lost to the Soviet, then in Western Russia the Soviet Power would become weakened to such an extent that it could hardly hold out for long; it would be followed by a bourgeois government, which would also need foreign help. The Power to give this help would, of course, not be England. It is easy to understand what avenues are opened up by this possibility.

I confirm that I really said this in a conversation with .Ransome, & I give permission for it to be printed.

Israel is an important geographic lynchpin of the imperialist triad (US, core Europe, Japan (+RoK, Taiwan, Singapore, Aus, NZ, etc.). The threat of Iran’s growth thru bilateral trade like with VN led to this imperialist war of aggression. But VN remains locked in a dependent situation, even with Israel, because the structure resulting from partly isolating the communist world undermined it (among other things). Capital flows from the core to the periphery cease after the port, the mine, the railway, & later the sweatshop, until its hand is forced. But thereafter it must be kept from wandering to places it doesn’t belong!

“Out of early twentieth-century Russia came the world’s first significant effort to build a modern revolutionary society” & “the great upheaval that once produced the Soviet Union has also produced a movement away from capitalism—a long transition that continues even today.” Russia’s “geopolitical isolation” produced a distinctive capitalism & perceived backwardness, yet this soil allowed the Bolsheviks to take power. Deeply-researched critique of the Soviet system spanning three decades, weighing Lenin & Stalin’s strategic choices, then tracing the post-1991 collapse, examining “the return of fascism in contemporary capitalism.” Exploring the uneven, protracted character of any genuine socialist transformation, Amin hopes for a rapid exit from capitalism.

The online spaces (feeding into this tiny bookstore nook site) flooded with selfproclaimed anti imperialist hot takes that condemn Vietnam for trading with Israel are not organic. They are saturated by an intellectual apparatus funded ultimately by the US State Department, private banks, and the privatized state apparatus. These outfits churn out messaging that sounds radical but actually cleaves to US premises. They treat any deviation from a pure boycott as collaboration without explaining the ongoing strangulation which produces the necessity of it.

The core’s monopolies over technology, finance, & arms force even resistant states like VN to engage with multiple imperialist poles at the same time, capturing surplus from the south. Meanwhile VN deepens military & economic ties with Iran, defies US sanctions on petroleum, & builds licensed weapons production with Israeli firms. Does not signal approval of the genocide.

A study of “exploitation of labor in the Global South” under multinational control. Global North firms “capture value” via state-of-the-art strategies that “enforce ‘economical’ & ‘flexible’ production.” Two Indonesian case studies show workers bearing the burden, their labor creating “surplus value that enriches the capitalists of the North.” These “relations of unequal exchange” extend Samir Amin’s foundational work on core-periphery exploitation & the “law of worldwide value”—now updated for contemporary global commodity chains. “Labor & class” remain central to understanding world capitalism.
