Would you know why it is almost 1:1? Is there massive under-reporting on the Ukrainian side? Did Russia make mistakes that account for this?

It’s possible that Ukrainian side is under reporting, but it is attrition warfare, and I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if casualties really were roughly even. The key thing to keep in mind is that Russia has a far higher population than Ukraine, so 1:1 ratio is still a disaster for Ukraine in practice.

Thanks for explaining. Is it because it is urban warfare? What has Ukraine done well to get that ratio? It’s a bit of an ask but would you know an article /resource that goes into it that is not from a transatlantic bias ie supportive of Russia in the is war but has good critique on their warfare?

That article was deeply annoying. Why do we need to pad out an article fundamentally concerned with geopolitics with a bunch of celebrity expose fluff about how the lame Finnish president likes going for runs and grew up bilingual (that’s gotta be at least half of Finnish families btw). Unserious nyt-style tripe. Also I like how his main criticism of the u.s. is lamenting the American clowns de-sanctioning Russia, not waging wars of aggression. I don’t know anything about the Finnish president but according to this article he seems like the kind of loser I would expect to be in charge of that country.

I’m glad someone else was also enraged by the Page 6 gossip column shit that takes up half the article. Glad that Mark the Carny can have some fun and unwind with his pal in the park while their buddy is creating a gigantic fucking disaster of biblical and historical proportions that could ruin all of our lives and in all likelihood, destroy the western economy. Reminds me of those guys who played soccer with the iceberg chunks on the deck of the Titanic.

If I get to see them scurry like roaches it will be worth losing everything, but let’s face it they’ll be just fine and I think they know that too.

I find these articles hilarious. They’re realizing the system they built is now unravelling and they’re desperately trying to come up with schemes to save it somehow. But they’re ignoring the underlying material conditions that caused the current crisis, and just keep promoting this idea that the west just needs to do more manifesting and things will go back to the way they were.
