The U.S. has already used most emergency tools (SPR release, waivers, tanker support) to curb rising oil and gasoline prices, but these measures have had limited impact.
I don’t think it’s geopolitically possible for the US to cede the straight to Iran at this point. It will happen eventually but I suspect it won’t be the realisation of price of American gas that does it, more the realisation of the price of American blood
They could leave the Strait of Hormuz, for example
Step 1. Make yourself into the “world police”
Step 2. Spend hilarious amounts of money on the military
Step 3. Use all of it on endless wars
Step 4. ???
