Sep 24, 2025In his stirring final speech to a United Nations General Assembly, Colombian President Gustavo Petro on Tuesday called for an international armed intervention to end Israel’s nearly two-year genocide in Gaza.
“We need a powerful army of the countries that do not accept genocide,” Petro, who is in his last year in office and is limited under Colombian law to a single presidential term, told world leaders gathered in New York. “That is why I invite nations of the world and their peoples more than anything, as an integral part of humanity, to bring together weapons and armies.”
“We must liberate Palestine,” he asserted. “I invite the armies of Asia, the great Slavic people who defeated Hitler with great heroism, and the Latin American armies of Bolívar.”
“We’ve had enough words; it’s time for Bolívar’s sword of liberty or death,” Petro argued, referring to the 19th century Latin American independence hero Simón Bolívar.
I made that specific comparison, in the way that I did, for a very specific reason. Go back and read it again. I know it’s painful. It’s meant to be.
Netanyahu is spitting on the memories and legacies of everyone who suffered in the holocaust, by repeating exactly the same behaviors the Germans executed that led to it in the first place. My family had friends who went through the camps, with the numbers on the arm, and everything. They made it out, and you’re spitting on their memories, too.
Netanyahu does a lot of bad things. As horrible as his leadership is, it’s not the same or on the same level as Nazi germany. The camps were far worse than anything that happened in Gaza. Look up the details and conditions.
More than 30,000 Jews were shot over the course of just two days in Babi Yar. Nothing similar to that has happened in Gaza.
By misrepresenting the history of the holocaust, you are dishonoring the memory of the victims.
Drawing an equivalence between the holocaust and the war in Gaza, is denying its horrors. It’s also not necessary at all. At best it distracts from the reality of Gaza, at worst it helps those who retroactively applaud the holocaust and want it to be repeated.
Not at all what I said. I said they were repeating exactly the same behaviors that led to the holocaust: Dehumanizing a racial enemy, killing them so they can take their stuff, and claiming to be the victims while attempting to exterminate them from the planet.
It turns out conditions are different, so they don’t need camps for it or the same Nazi-style system, but the goal is the same: Eliminate the Palestinians from the face of the earth. That’s not me talking, it’s the UN. You said you are far more aware of these things than I am, so obviously you knew that. Right? Or no?
Says the guy who’s distracting from the reality of Gaza, and doing legwork for the holocaust to be repeated. Honestly, the Palestinian holocaust decades in the making almost complete now. Just a little few scraps of land left, a few scattered pockets of people, and then it will be done, unless someone stops Israel from it.
