So here’s what I think will happen in the worst case, but in all honesty it’s extremely likely:
Live creators will leave to prevent AI from stealing their style and soul. Platforms will be filled with beautifully generated but empty garbage. And underground creators who do their work with soul will face problems, for example, there will be scoundrels who will steal or buy content to feed it to AI. Remember, this is capitalism, baby!!!
Most likely, the creators will be pestered with questions like: why don’t you use AI? Are you [Bad Word] or just mentally removed? Look how much I’ve managed to do with AI! And why did you do so little and put your soul into it? Don’t make me laugh, in my opinion, you made some kind of forbidden crap or even satire.
In short, as you understand, this is the end of art. People have a choice: stop feeding AI out of anger, and then rejoice, watching the complaints of these consumers: why is everything so the same? Why is the Main Character invulnerable again? Why do they constantly try to deceive me, saying that a living author did this. Do you think I’m [Bad Word]? and etc. You can even give your idea how these consumers will complain lol.
Honestly, I don’t see the point in trying to explain everything in more detail, because I don’t want to get banned for “panicking” anymore and few people will understand the meaning anyway, and most will even forget it altogether.
Do you think I’m wrong?
The same story was told when photography was invented. And yes, the portraits really died en masse. Did painting come to an end after that? Of course not.

No I think the same, AI may end the careers in designing real soon
I don’t like how people are using AI literally everywhere and for everything. But I also think (kind of) that the AI revolution might bring more jobs into the market because every big inventions did like the printing press, internet, calculator, computer and all
But I’m not so sure the AI would do that tho

It seems that people can get so “locked in” to the internet, that it becomes the only “real” place.
People need to be reminded the there is a physical world, and the internet isn’t the only place art is created and appreciated. Just because AI slop has invaded the internet, that doesn’t mean people aren’t going to paint or make music in the real world.
That said, I do think a boutique market will arise from hand crafted works in the wake of all this.

So you’re saying that full-time jobs are the problem, not AI?
What if AI took over everything and provided everything for you, so you could focus on doing whatever you want, including art, not needing a full time job anymore?

Doom doom doom, doom do doom, doom do doom
I cannot see this as a valid and reasonable response to “we aren’t likely to see an AI powered socialist dystopia in our lifetime, if ever.” AI isn’t even profitable for the capitalists that run it, and needs to constantly feed off real humans to avoid decay. It’s definitely not doomsaying to see AI as a bubble and generally a grift as it’s presented now, when it’s likely to fit in a much more specific niche as a tool in the future. Art will stay uniquely human until AI can create without needing constant human training data.
There’s been so many grifts, so many bubbles. Societal collapse will happen, but not because of AI is what I’m saying, but by capitalist strategies like infinite growth.
Noo we cant have good things for everyone that would be communism

Soul stealing is back on the menu.
In all seriousness, art sharing (piracy), art copying and style mimicking have been around forever. I doubt there would be any meaningful changes, despite more presence of AI images, same as we have seen more presences of anything new, for instance rise of 3d generated media instead of drawn or practical effects. Everyone’s souls should be safe.

I just don’t believe something that does not exist can get hurt.
No one can steal your soul. Because souls do not exist.

I don’t see how that would happen.
I’ve pirated lots of movies I don’t think actors personalities, values and emotions got destroyed by that. That would be some black magic shenanigans.
As said, plagiarism have existed forever, people’s emotions haven’t been altered by someone else plagiarizing or straight up copying their craft.
That’s Nintendo levels of dramatism when they discovered that someone made a switch emulator.

Well it used to be that rich people preferred to have porcelain white skin, because the poor had to be outside to work. Then the poor started working indoors, so now the rich prefer to be tanned.
Art tastes will change similarly. Art with obvious imperfections will be considered better. Actual paintings with large obvious, textured brush strokes. Books and poems printed on rough hand made paper. Maybe even hand lettered. Things that were obviously done by a skilled craftsman, but would be difficult to do with machines and Ai.
Think the neovictorians from Neal Stephensons The Diamond Age.
I hope this doesn’t lead to another “videogames use film grain and motion blur” situation

I mean I think the way things have been going for awhile there are many many things that never see the light of day due to opportunity. I think it would be worse if not for free software licenses. There are 8 billion people on the planet and I can say for certain that ideas folks have and don’t talk about or disseminate will eventually show up but the more opportunity and reward is limited to a small subset the longer that will take.

You’re right that the vast majority of media will shift to being AI, to the point where you’re really going to have to dig to find real art, but art will never cease to exist. So long as people have a way to make things, they will. It might be surrounded by a sea of soulless generated content, but it will exist. It will likely never be a viable career, even for the most talented, however. It will only ever be something people do for their own self-expression.
