You would eventually “drive off a cliff” with either party, as they will softlock you into never having better choices, and the overton window will keep moving to the right. The only possibility out is to vote third party.

The New York primaries where the entire democrat establishment is either not mentioning Mamdani or pretending he’ll make jewish babies into sausage then sell them in government stores after they gulag all the landlords? Those primaries?

The democrats have repeatedly blocked even mildly progressive voices from running, even rigging the 2020 election in favor of Biden because they were scared shitless of milquetoast Sanders. They might let a few slip in local elections, but never the big one.

They’d rather let the party lose (because their biggest donors aren’t paying them to win, they’re paying them to stay close enough to the GOP in platform and voters)

So if you eventually drive off a cliff anyway might as well get it over with and do it now… Because ice cream is for children or gay or something

There are so many options to get out of this, with varying degrees of violence and nonviolence, and voting third party is way down the list for efficacy and likelihood.

Amen to that. Though I wouldn’t hold my breath, considering the immense injustice of the universe thus far.

            Ahh yes.

            Voting.

Let’s use the corrupt and exploitative system to fix the corrupt and exploitative system.

            I’m sure that will work.

The United States political system is setup in such a way that third parties are an immidate non starter, a garenteed loss.

The only way out is to manipulate a party into changing its ideology like how the Christian Nationalists have been doing since the 80s.

It’s almost like the whole scenario and setup is just a dumb analogy about why the people who constantly fail are actually correct.

It’s astounding that an analogy seeking describe the process of voting in a FPTP system in terms so simple a child can understand is still so consistently misunderstood by Politically Serious People.

I guess it would need to be dumbed down a little more to be truly universally digestible.

It’s not that the analogy is incomprehensible, it’s that it’s reductive and disingenuous to the point of being nonsense, like every lib analogy.

Y’all refuse to talk about reality as it is because in the few cases where you actually know anything about the situation, you can’t make a decent argument for your position without infantilizing the fuck out of the entire thing. It’s all “who’s Voldemort in this scenario?” and “which party is the sour kid who doesnt share their toys?”. It’s fucking embarrassing.

“It’s nonsense that it’s been pointed out that one party is promising immediate self-destruction and that not voting is enabling them!”

I see that the analogy hasn’t been dumbed down enough for you to understand yet. Unfortunately, I don’t think I have the capacity, personally, to make an analogy that you can digest, in that case. Perhaps a child education specialist can help.

Condescension is bad enough when you’re an expert, but when you think yourself the only smart person because you’re not as dumb as the dumbest people on earth, it’s just laughable.

I can understand your point just fine and I struggle to see why the analogy is needed except to distort the truth into some fantasy world where getting killed by a gun and getting killed by a knife are just such an obvious choice, because one is shit and the other is an artisanal brownie or whatever you’re pretending this is.

I do seem to talk to the dumbest people on earth quite a bit, don’t I?

Getting killed immediately or having more time to work against the fucked situation would seem an obvious choice to me, but what do I know? I think that LGBT folk shouldn’t go to death camps even if it means holding hands with the liberal plurality of this fucking coutnry for an election, that basically makes me Hillary Clinton, or whatever the Very Serious Leftist line of the day is. If I was a True Leftist™, I would’ve symbolically stood aside for the fascists to put LGBT folk in camps. That’s the only TRUE left praxis, after all.
