      Nor does it bring someone back if someone dies from being hit. It’s still incredibly negligent and irresponsible.

        It’s a tool designed specifically for killing. If it’s brandished, it’s inherently deadly. Don’t be an idiot.

        wow. people in here don’t know what a warning shot is. this is crazy. it’s a shot someone fires on the ground or in the water near someone to quickly tell them by the sound and where the shot hits that continuing their actions means the next shot will be aimed at them and will likely kill them. it’s a quick last resort to prevent killing them.

        sometimes warning shots are fired in the air, when there is no safe spot on the ground or in the water, but that’s worse, because the shots will come down uncontrolled somewhere. it’s still better than killing people right away.

          “Warning shots” fired at the ground are incredibly dangerous and can kill someone as well. The OP is right, there is no safe way to fire a warning shot.
