Two local schools have cancelled their student exchange with American schools this week due to the problematic situation in the US. Both had a longstanding tradition of student exchanges with partner schools on the US.

This is far from the first time. During the George Floyd protests and the height of covid, several countries warned of traveling to the States. I believe the one I remembered distinctly was from Australia. You really want a view of how other countries see us? Just read their travel brochures. They don’t hold much back.

I’m having trouble finding it but I remember a foreign travel warning ad specifically for Florida in relation to their gun laws and things like open carry and castle doctrine. It even had a graphic with Florida itself done up to look like a gun. It was to warn people “hey you could get shot by some random asshat and it’s legal for them to do in Florida.”

We’re in Canada and we stopped going down years ago. Too many idiots with guns.

It is easy when you are German. Just yell „Heil Hitler“ after every question they ask and you will be more than welcome!

For me it’s Shuntaro Hida. His retelling of when the bomb dropped, and the events he experienced after. The people walking, heads bloated and their flesh sloughing off like bloodied rags.
