Interesting. I’m on the waitlist for the truck. Obviously there is demand for it. I don’t know if I’ll buy yet, but I haven’t been notified yet.

You believe an article that says they are going to layyoff shifts when they have a backlog on the product ?

I don’t believe articles discussing rumors in general. I like to wait until it’s actually news.

I only commented because your response had nothing to do with the price of tea in China. That’s all.

                  Let’s break it down.

I’m on the waitlist for the truck.

Cool. I guess this is related to the “news” of pending layoffs… somehow.

Obviously there is demand for it.

Because you are on the waitlist? Is that why you think the demand is obvious? Or that your anecdotal evidence is relevant? So I guess when I went to Best Buy last night after they closed I can also say the demand for them to stay open longer is obvious… because, you know, I am the center of my universe.

                  I don’t know if I’ll buy yet,

But you just said there was demand. Now I am confused. So do you want it or not? Sounds like the self professed demand may not exist?

but I haven’t been notified yet.

It’s like you’re trying to close up some previous thread, but I’m having trouble finding either a beginning or an end.

Because you are on the waitlist?

Yes. My credit date is set at 2028. So you think Tesla is going to cut production of their highest margin product to reduce sales and margins? Any intelligent person would say, oh that does sound like BS.

But of course you didn’t read the article and just want to show the world with your ignorance and try to make some weird ad hominem attacks because you didn’t read the article.

The rumors have now been confirmed by Tesla.

Your point makes sense. I don’t know why people decided you pointing out the deep wait list was some kind of main character thing.

That said, it may be that they’re staffing to catch up and just maintain at actual demand since I expect it’s lower than hoped.

Look like they are cutting the hours per shift. So you may be right. The supply may be catching up to the demand. It’s interesting because he said they are almost sold out for 2024. Yet my order was in 2021 and I’m told a delivery of 2028 currently. Looks like a 10% cut while the article was talking about 20%. It’ll be interesting to see if my estimate changes to order the truck. When I put In the reservation, it was supposed to cost about 40k.

You shouldn’t be getting down voted.

Whether Musk is a cunt or not, you’ve made a reasonable contribution to the discussion at hand.

Lemmy is going to become a very boring echo chamber if we downvote for no other reason than “I don’t like that opinion”.

Edit: getting downvoted for wrong think. You should take a look at yourselves

Yeah, I was surprised how many down votes both of you got. It’s a straightforward contributory comment. You might not like the cyber truck, but that’s no reason to down vote.

It was entirely nonsensical. Did not contribute anything to the conversation more than a flight of ideas. But yes, when 90 80% of votes are downvotes, it must be “them”.

Edit: Here, I’ll take the time to write what would have been a useful addition:

Cybertruck wait times reportedly stretched beyond four years at the time of first deliveries – based on 1 million pre-orders. That appears to be a significant pent-up demand in at least one model. KBB currently says Tesla sales in the U.S. were down 13.3% year over year, so I would assume something less than a 20% layoff, but understand a possible need to rebalance to meet the market.

They said there is a wait list for the truck. I didn’t know that, and assuming it’s true, does imply demand. Demand for a good is directly tied to the health of a company. Seems to be related and contribute to the conversation, which is what I thought we used to determine if something is up voted.

If someone telling you they are in a waitlist for a product, but don’t know if they actually want it, is useful - I can only hope it’s towards the unpredictable nature of Tesla customers, or perhaps the unreliability of Tesla themselves - even in this we cannot glean useful info.

It was terrible. The 9 current upvotes leaves me sad at the reasoning ability of my neighbors…

Well you can tell by the numbers, many people are leaving because of bad moderation and the echo chamber mentality. I mistakenly thought this was a group to talk about electric cars which is a topic I am passionate about.

Now to the topic, I can see layoffs or pauses on the y and 3 line. Not sure about the x or s line

I cannot see layoffs on the cyber truck line as they have a backlog of several years. It would make zero business sense to disrupt that line.

I do agree with Elon, interest rates are hurting sales. I also think Elon is hurting sales with his strange behavior. I also think some of the recent design choices were strange.

I get about 280 miles per charge with my 3. I think they need to get about 500 to drive more sales.

ETA: and thank you for trying to engage in a conversation instead of buzzwords and catch phrases. The only way lemmy survives is through interaction.
