Im concerned about the ratio of libslop “news" as opposed to actual information available from abolish.capital
The bulk is from liberal orgs and news sources, very little from actual leftist sources show up. I need real news, not Western liberal centrist propaganda.
Please consider my request. Thank you.
@RedWizard@news.abolish.capital might not see this since the title doesn’t tag, but if @RedWizard@hexbear.net is tagged in a comment, then @RedWizard@lemmygrad.ml is more likely to see it.
That said, I think the big question will be “what rss feeds should be added?”
Thanks for the ping!
Thank you ❤️🫡
Hey there! You’re going to have to be more specific on what you mean. I welcome critical feedback on the sources. I’m limited by a number of factors worth considering: RSS Feed Access, Post Frequency, Friendlness to bots, and probably others I’m not thinking of right now.
You can view the entire RSS feed list here: https://codeberg.org/Abolish-Capital/news.abolish.capital.json/src/branch/main/rss_feeds.json
If you have sources you would like to have added, you can leave them here. If you’re not sure if the source has a valid RSS feed, you can use tools like https://www.rsslookup.com/
If this doesn’t find it, that doesn’t mean an RSS feed isnt available, it might just be in a nonstandard place.
I always intended this to be a community project.

I’d appreciate more news from inside Russia, but I don’t know what publications, perhaps other comrades can suggest?
Requesting Comrade https://lemmygrad.ml/u/rainpizza for suggestions?
Also Deaglan’s substack, if he’s okay with it? https://lemmygrad.ml/u/DeaglanOMulrooney https://thespectaclemag.substack.com/
I’d like more Syrian resistance news, perhaps https://lemmygrad.ml/u/Malkhodr can suggest?
I think telegram channels can be converted to rss but the rate that they get updated, it would be like a fire hose unless I stuff them in their own community.
I agree with the news from Russia and Syria would be good. Tass.com has an RSS, but I also know how violently libs react to that source lol. They already think the feed is a pro-maga/trump russiagate bot farm in some places (slrpnk for example). Don’t take that to mean I wouldn’t add them to kowtow to libs opinions but it also wouldn’t shock me if a place like .world finally decided to defederate over it’s inclusion.
Anyway. I don’t know that telegrams translate well to being posted on Lemmy.
Do as you will. Between my provider and not having a VPN, plus lack of general knowledge, I just get a little overwhelmed trying to find alternative and accessible sources. You have a balance to maintain, and I get it. It just seems I see more truthout, common dreams and over stuff that’s basically “moderate lib,” (potato chips) when I’m craving oranges, bananas, walnuts, etc. But that’s a me issue.
Thanks for your consideration, all the same.
Hi, thanks so much for answering. I’m wondering of it may be the lemmy and kbin algos, on further reflection. Like probably sources that are upvoted a lot, commondreams, for example, may be to blame, since western liberals are prone to dv anything that disagrees with their bubble.
I’ll go through the RSS list and will be posting back, possibly multiple times, since I’m navigating RL uhh… growth opportunity experiences, right now.
Thanks again. ❤️🫡
Yeah that is a real issue, and honestly another reason I think having downvotes on is silly. On the instance itself I have downvotes off (I don’t think many people view it directly, but I do) but that doesn’t translate to other instances. Libs do love to down vote things instead of engaging with its content.
That is why I tend to include some publications like commondreams. There is a filter bias, one that can be adjusted for through participation in the feed itself (is voting praxis?!? no. unless… 👀). I did try to solve this once, with a userscript people could install that finds cross-posts and upvotes the other posts. So, if a comrade cross-posted something from the feed you wouldn’t need to hunt down the feed to upvote it.
But, Lemmy.world funny enough is the largest userbase for the feeds because its the largest instance. If no down votes could be enforced per community and federated that would go a long way to combating drive by down votes. But I’m a hardliner on down votes and frankly think Lemmy would be fine without them.
❤️
I hadn’t noticed that myself
