This was an email sent out to all leaders of local branches from the Central Committee to try and instruct them en masse how to engage with the current sex scandal.

The content below got kinda cut off, hexbear stopped letting me upload images lmao.

Contents:

The PSL Central Committee has put out the demand that every member must defend the integrity of the “all woman national disciplinary committee”, while stating the current mass exodus in some branches is part of a “factionalist” conspiracy. The defense of the party is paramount

The fear mongering over whether it’s admissible to own your structural failure(s) while under pressure from state investigation is largely absurd. The story about joining via another name is very funny - no one recognized them? No one knew them? They put on Groucho glasses?

A couple notable things I notice are the following

Based on reports from around the country, we think this matter can be brought to a close in the next week.

lmao; I think that’s very generous but honestly at this point may be true enough. There isn’t a real desire to interrogate and deal with this, simply to sweep it aside, and trying to yet again affirm a timeline for dismissal of this matter across the country is just another part of that effort.

The PSL Central Committee is the Party’s highest elected body between Congresses. Its political and organizational decisions constitute the line of the PSL, and are binding on all PSL members as a principle of democratic centralism, and as a requirement of membership

I didn’t exactly get to elect my leaders; assigned representatives who (in our case) were approved by our national liaison were able to attend the last conference in a non-voting capacity; but to reduce it as simply to “CentCom says so so it’s so, discussion closed” isn’t very democratic in my eyes.

The duty to defend the party does not require each member to speak to each aspect of every decision ever committed in other people’s accountability processes from years ago. It means disputing the false narrative that the Party tolerates sexism in its ranks, and affirming that the Party has a strong record and strong processes that have empowered and developed women leaders at every level. It means disputing the narrative that the leadership is corrupt and undemocratic. It means standing by the legitimacy of the all-women’s National Disciplinary Committee, and the legitimacy of the elected Central Committee, which have comprehensively reviewed these matters and made their decisions, as they are authorized to do so.

But like… dog… What if that isn’t true anymore. You can dispute it, but, that doesn’t mean these things are true. They’re in fact never going to be true in a completely universal sense, these are all issues which require constant vigilance! You can’t just, like, solve sexism; even I experienced sexism from leadership but it’s supposed to be a constant process of development! To say it’s never tolerated is, well, not true!

Can you expand on that part? Im not a member but was looking at becoming one soon (before all this came out) once I move to an area closer to a branch. Are you not able to vote on which local member joins the central committee?

You can vote for delegates from your branch to go to party congress to theoretically have influence on national bodies. Joining a CC happens over a long period of time based on work with National - usually initiated by your work/merit in your Branch… This is typical in any ML-style party. I am one of many who resigned from PSL but that is my unbiased take. I will say the CC elects 40% of the congress delegates, which is highly unusual for any communist party historically anywhere in the world that I know of
