I’d say the problem is the economic and political systems that create the wealth disparity and encourage the greed and work conditions that facilitated the gig economy being the only “safety net” we have between the old systems of employment and whatever is coming next. The problem is those who knew this would happen were fine with how unsustainable it is, how bad it will get for those who work paycheck to paycheck as the economy is further integrated with robotics and ai.
Make gig employment more expensive than normal employment.
This. And while we’re at it. Make everything that’s unsustainable more expensive than the sustainable alternatives.
