The Ioniq V is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) and offers single-motor versions with maximum outputs of 140 kW and 168 kW.
Its batteries are supplied by CATL (HKEX: 3750), using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, with capacities of 53.5 kWh and 66.8 kWh.
That’s an odd choice. Is it a revamp of the Ioniq 5 or a different vehicle named Ioniq V? Very confusing because V means 5 but the pricing and look make me think it’s not the same vehicle.
Seems like a China-only release. The ioniq 5 never released in China. I assume if they ever bring the model to other markets, they’d do so under a different name.
Oh, I guess that makes sense if the 5 wasn’t released there.
You mean like the Chevy Volt and Bolt?
What’s even more annoying about that is that between the two names, Volt is more obviously electric-themed but is the less electric vehicle.
And yes, I know that the Volt came first, as the first mass market plug in hybrid in the US market, but that just made the Bolt’s name even more confusing.
Just wait for the 2028 Jolt.
